My 722 has now been fired over 3000 times, about 70% SA and 30 DA mode. The trigger pull is over 12 lbs for the DA and about 4 lbs 15 onz for the SA. It has definately improved over the last 6 months. For example the SA has gone from 5 lbs 5 onz down to 4 lbs 15 onz in just the last 1000 odd rounds. The trigger is smooth, nice and breaks cleanly, just heavy. Ignition is not a problem.

I would really like to lighten this up, particularly the DA pull. This is a new manufacture 722 and Dan Wesson factory will do a trigger job for about 120$ with shipping.

I was wondering if I could just change out the springs and continue to shoot it figuring the pull would improve? I was thinking of a reduced power Wolff kit and trying to tackle this on my own. (after all you have to start somewhere....)

You are in luck! The Dan Wesson design is pretty simple and fairly easy to work on. Since you said the pull is smooth and clean, just heavy, go ahead and try the reduced power springs. One word of warning; reduced power springs, mainly the hammer spring, will reduce the impact pressure of the firing pin. This can lead to inconsistant ignition, so the lightest spring may not work properly in double action. My only experience with reduced power springs has been in my GP-100. I found the lightest spring did cause some problems, so a spring rate between the lightest and the factory spring seemed to be the best compromise. Enjoy that 722! By the way, have you posted a range report? A lot of people actually like the Dan Wessons, but are afraid to admit it. I used to have a 15-2, sorry I ever traded it.

Peter,

A spring kit swap will help a lot, especially the trigger return "mouse trap" spring. Reduced power mainsprings are only a couple of pounds lighter than the standard one, so there is only a little to be gained there.

Good Luck...

Joe

Thanks, I looked up the wolff reduced powered spring set and they are only $10. What the heck.

My concern is more getting it back together then mis-fires. If it mis-fires then the old springs go back in. I guess I will make up a wolff order next week and when the parts show up I will give it a try.

I will keep you all informed.

Thanks
