A guy at work told me his wife wants him to sell his LNIB (<100 rounds) G19. I won't go into politics as he made the choice to sell it to please her and if I don't buy it somone else will. Any way, we were talking about price and he wasn't sure what he wanted for it and told me to make an offer. It is a Gen 2 with one ten-round mag, box and papers. I came up in the neighborhood of $400.00 clams. This too much? Too low? What say the collective brains in THR?

I bought a very similar gun from a gun show 2nd Gen, 2 mags, very excellent condition...I paid $365.00 for it. If its clean, it an ok deal, but keep in mind a 3rd Gen will be found very close to $400.00 also.

If its in the name of helping him out, the offer is fair.

I wouldn't say it is the name of helping him out but rather keeping the peace in the work place. LOL, I don't want to low-ball him and him later getting upset that I skunked him on the deal. He is in a position that MY job relies on for SMOOTH day to day flow if you get my drift.

Why not go to gun brokers .com ..look up the piece and see what they sell for ,copy the page and print it out ,and show him what the going price is ..then there wont be any hard feelings .

I'd say $350.00. Just because I know I can drive an hour south and buy a brand spanking new 3rd gen for $419.00. Plus I paid $350 for my 2nd gen 21.

With only one magazine*, box and docs I would offer $375 topps.:)

*FootNote: Glocks come with two magazines, so something stinks 'bout
YOUR deal. Could be that he is try'in to sell you a USED** firearm~?:scrutiny:  for $400?

** meaning a prior owner, excluding himself

I just paid $439 for a BRAND NEW 3rd gen G19 with 2 hi caps and Trijicons from CDNN......they were advertising them at that price, it wasnt a super secret special.

I dont think your friends gun is worth $400.

I would say start at $450....thats the price of a G19 with standard sights at most large distributors.

Subtract $50 for being used.
Subtract $50 for being second gen (older frame)
Subtract $15 for the missing magazine

Seems its worth $335ish....

$350 is a fair price for a FTF sale. You'll probably want a couple of the standard 15 round mags and that'll set you back $40 to $50. If he went to a shop he'd be lucky to get $300. Its like buying a car from a private individual. A fair deal is a bit more than trade in and a bit less than buying from a dealer.

Hello

I'd offer him $275.00 for a gen2 with 1,10rnd mag. If you want to be nice take him to dinner. If you are buying a gun, then it is a business transaction and you can play ball. If he doesn't like your price he will counter, then you can decide. It is nothing personal, and you both should know this.
Please reconsider $400.00 unless it's your boss and you are fishing for a raise.:neener:
Good luck

Well, he isn't my boss, but he does take calls from end users and gathers all the info before dispatching me to thier site to make repairs, so the accuracy and completeness of his work directly affects how smoothly my work goes and how fast I can fix things.

Anyway, I dropped by, looks spankin' new, he did have both mags, kydex holster, original box and papers and another bag of stuff i didn't even look at, I offered 4 bills for it. Will pick it up next week.

Amen

Jaysouth,
I couldn't have said it better!
Anyway ID Shooting... Glad you are happy, hope you enjoy the G19. Post pics would be nice:)

"Post pics would be nice"

Here you go!

Not sure how I missed it before, but I didn't even see the accesory rail the first time I looked, addmittedly, it wasn't a very long look since I could tell his wife was jumpy with it being out of thier closet (I just don't get gun haters).

Anyway, it IS a Gen 3 G19, two 10 rounders (must be a Seatle thing I guess) box, papers, cleaning and loading tools, Fobus holster and dual mag carrier, and a bonus 230 rounds of 124 gr Speer Gold Dots.

Says he bought the package all at the same time and only shot it in one session. If we do the math, 1 50 round box of LEO grade GD and 1 250 round box of practice GD ammo = 300 rounds, he had 230 left, that means this gun only has 70 rounds through it :what:

SOB, most of us will easily double that in one afternoon :D

All for $400.00 clams and out his door I went.

Whaddya think, can I now officialy wear a "Got Glock?" t-shirt and start bad-mouthing 1911's? hehehehe

So, how did I do?

I think you made out like a bandit, with all the ammo and goodies thrown in. The ammo alone is probably worth $150-$175 if you had to buy it locally.

I think you did well! I have a Glock 19 with an honest 550 rounds through it and I'd pay $400 for my same gun if the deal came up. I've seen gunbroker guns that have holster wear and several thousand rounds through them sell for the mid $300s. So for $50 more you know exactly what you're getting.
