I was given the best wheel gun of all time (in my opinion)

Congratulations to the OP on your model 19 revolver. It is an excellent revolver with the added benefits of an interesting history and some good memories.

I owned a model 19 with a 4" barrel, and I carried it for more than 30 years as one of my preferred "trail" or "woods" guns. It was more accurate than most center fire target pistols, so I also used it for bullseye and Hunter Sil. competitions.

It was an excellent revolver, but it was not, in my view, the ultimate (or best ever) .357 field revolver for shooting full power .357 mag. loads. For that, I would choose a 686 Plus. It weighs but an oz or two more, and it is much better for handling the full power loads.

After retiring my model 19 as my favorite "packing pistol", I now carry carry either a Glock 20 (10 mm) or a 629 with 4" barrel.

OP, if you like the Pachmayrs, go ahead and leave them on.

Some of us that actually shoot our guns, like them just fine....:neener:

Nice! You have a keeper. Don't let one of your kids trade it for a silly motorcycle or a must-have AR-15
