We see threads all the time about different manufacturer's and their QC issues. I think it's a good idea to remember in this day and age of instant communication around the globe, that bad news travels a lot faster than ever before. One man's malfunction in Albuquerque, NM will get discussed in Maine, Florida, California, etc. in no time. It's easy to think that quality truly stinks when all we hear about is the bad stuff. I believe that it really skews the perception of quality today.

So, I wanted everyone to know that I dragged an S&W revolver (w/lock), a Marlin (pre-Remington) lever gun and a GSG 1911-22 to the range this morning. I had no issues. Everything went "bang" when it was supposed to and were mostly on-target.

I love it when everything goes as planned. Most of my quarrels are not with firearm companies and their QC but rather the quality of ammuniton (especially bulk rimfire). I purchased a 550 bulk back of Federal 22 LR and both my GSG 1911 and Browning Buckmark choke on the stuff. Maybe I don't have a great memory, but in past years I found Bulk federal to be more than serviceable both in the accuracy and reliability department, but that is no longer the case. But, maybe I'm just used to the CCI blazer that I've been using before I made the switch back to Federal. But as far as modern firearms go I've been more than impressed by the quality and performance of them. I'd go as far to say that the CZ 452-2E in 17 HMR american I purchased several months back is the best production rimfire I've seen.

Of the 50ish odd guns I've had through the years I can only think of two that really had issues. One was a worn out loading ramp on a Marlin 60, which was a cheap easy fix, and the other a Llama 9mm pistol which I just gave up on ever getting to work right. All of the brand new stuff I've ever bought, which is admittedly a fairly small percent, worked great. Guess I've been lucky too.

I too went to the range today. I brought a Glock 21SF and a Smith and Wesson 642 (w/lock). Both worked 100%, as expected.

I went to the range Tuesday and had a nearly perfect session. Perfect weather, solitude, the guns worked, I was shooting fairly. Actually it was perfect.

I've never had a problem with American firearms as far as fire functioning, ejecting, feeding etc. The only problem I ever had was with a Llama .380, it never functioned properly, however it was extremely accurate. Thank God I sold that pos. I've owned well over 100 firearms in my 65 years of life. Most of the firearms I've had to work on have been made in Spain, or South America, and also China, and Korea. Go figure! Buy American!

Did you go to Rex's shooting range?

I have good days and not-so-good days at the range, but the less-than-stellar days are due to human error and not failures I can blame the firearm for. Well, then there are the days where I take someone new to firearms to the range only to have the fellow in the next lane rapid firing an AR carbine. That's life for ya.

My wife recently bought a Groupon for a range in Brevard (Bear Arms?). Looks like I'll have to try that place out.

Yup, went to Rex's. I know the guys there pretty well and always have good time. That being said, you'll like Bear Arms. It's a very CLEAN facility with great lighting and ventilation. Always friendly.

Rex's could use a coat of paint and new lights.

I went to the range yesterday and today. Both days the two firearms worked flawlessly, a CZ SP-01 on Saturday and a Browning Buckmark today. Each one ate around 250 rounds.
The best part, this shooter learned something each day. A slight grip adjustment on the CZ had by groupings tighter and more centered (I was trending low previously). With the .22, it was more of a revelation. I am cross dominant according to my previous eye exams so I have been adjusting for that. On a whim, I tried my strong side eye with the .22 and lo, I had no problem finding a beautiful sight picture and my groupings got even tighter. Looks like my contacts make the adjustment so I don't have to!

Took a walk to the back 40 yesterday and run a box down the pipe of my 6 month old Rock Island and it ate them all without fail as it has done since round one. Heading back tomorrow with the wife and daughter for some 9mm and .22lr action. No problems expected then either.

Went to a range here in NOVA with the dad, brother, and girlfriend a few days ago.
Brought a Mossberg 702, my CZ75B and my bought-2-years-ago-but-still-didn't-fire-it-yet Bulgy Makarov.

Except from the 1970's era holographic's battery dying on the 702 (left the darn thing on while demonstrating safety at the house) both pistols functions perfectly. Love the kick that Mak has.
