Ok, to start off with, I pocket carry a Taurus CIA ultralite 38 snub in a Mikas pocket rig.

I won it here.:)

Now, I recently handled the new Taurus TCP, the 380 mini pistol, along with a lot of the current 380 pistol offerings. I LIKE it. No, CZ doesn't make an equivelant, not yet.:(

Now, would I be insane to try a trade with this revolver, with two holsters, for one of these little 380s, also for pocket carry? (No, not that cheap IWB rig in the second pic, it's a Don Hume IWB rig)

Second question, is there any 380 ammo for SD that is as good as 38spl 158gr +P LSWCHP?

Third, how hard are components to come by, for reloading?

Fourth, do I need professional help? Don't answer that one.:neener:

I personaly probably wouldnt trade as I like a pocket .38 better than a pocket .380. Also I dont thik any .380 is as effective as a good heavy .38 for self defense.

I am a fan of the 38 snubby much more so than any 380 mouser.

I have 2 snubbies and nil 380s.

For all that is decent keep that Taurus.

No. :banghead:

If you are lucky, you might find a box or two here and there in trade for an arm, and perhaps a foot :neener: . The big problem with .380 and many other semi auto calibers (in my area) is that you can't get enough SD ammo to test for reliability. I'm talking maybe 50 rounds tops.

Though it may be different in your area, where I live (and in most places), .380 is about the hardest to find handgun ammo out there. So hard that if I were in the market for a pocket auto, I'd go with a .32 because at least you have a chance of finding enough SD ammo to test for reliability. But even .32 is getting scarce in my parts (yes, the ammo shortage is at an all time high here).

Honestly, I wouldn't sell your .38 until you've built up your confidence with the little .380. Personally, I am a terrible shot with the little pocket autos, I do a lot better with .38 snubs. It'd be a shame to trade off a .38 you shoot decently for a .380 you can't hit a paper plate with from 3 feet.

So I'd just save the money and keep your .38.

I can't really say for sure, but I do know that small pistol primers are impossible to find in my area. I buy them when I can find them, but if things don't improve I'll be relegated to .22 LR before long.

I've got one that I shall taunt you with.

They're really nice, though I had to send my back at first to get it working.

Your present Taurus functions, right? I wouldn't chance trading it for an unknown Taurus; they take way too long to correct things.

I pocket carry a P3AT (no holster) and it's been great. It's like it's not there, it's so light, small and thin. It is the thinnest and lightest .380 of them all. Yes, it's a bit crudely finished but I didn't buy to be a display piece; it lives in my pocket.

If you do change over to .380, avoid the hollowpoints. If they do expand (kinda doubtful,) penetration will probably suffer. I use Fiocchi FMJ as they're a bit hotter than most.
