Are there any markings on the top of the barrel???
From the serial number and Colt's Patent stamp on the frame it looks a lot like an original made in 1866.

What does it say on the back of the trigger guard up near the frame?
Too much glare on it when I blow up the image but it looks like ".32 cal" might try to see if any repros were so marked rather than .31 if that is what it says. I see them refered to as .32 cal on auction sites and it drives me nuts......maybe some sellers are just seeing his on their trigger guards.
Perhaps some contries require that usable ball size be stamped somewhere and that could help ID the gun.
Saw a Colt type at a local shop listed as a .32 but could find no caliber marking anywhere and it seemed to large to be an 1849 and as it turned out a .323 ball rolled easily down the barrel and into the chambers......after I gave it back to the sales guy after my ball expereiment they changed the tag to .36.

Uberti did not stamp Colt on their firearms except for cartridge type,Colt strongly discouraged this via their lawyers.
The case hardening on the frame is too good to be true unless this is a re-issue from Colt.
The font of the stamping on the frame looks more modern than the originals.

OK looking at one of the other pictures this morning it is clearly marked "31 CAL"
But I blowing up the pictures got a look at the checkering on the hammer cock area .....ugly.
Might this be a parts gun made up of various parts that were then force matched?
It really looks like someone went nits with a polish wheel or some abrasive on the barrel and loading lever assembly. I think this might have been an attempted defarb or out right fake gone bad.

I'm certainly not accepting this thing being an original. The finish work on the barrel and the loading lever that are visible are rough to say the least, not something that Colt would put out the door.
From what I can see the trigger guard appears to be nickle plated (I could of couse be wrong), if it is the base metal was very poorly polished as well before plating. Also, am I the only one that thinks that the drag marks on the cylinder are in the wrong place?
All in all it looks like a pretty good project gun and with a little elbow grease would probably clean up pretty nice. Did you buy this or is it just something you came across and if you bought it I'd be interested in how much it was worth just for grins.

I looked at the GB pics and they do show the gun a little better. I'm wondering if it's possible that this might be a 2nd Generation that somebody stripped the bluing off of. I don't have any idea if this model was even produced as a 2nd Gen.
Also I'm still curious as to the odd location of those drag marks on the cylinder. Maybe one of you guys who knows a little more about these things can give some input on that.

There were no 6 shot .31 cal pocket models made in the 2nd Gen or Sig Series - or by any other replica manufacturer. Barrel lengths on both series was 4 inches.

I am looking at an original 1849 Pocket .31 cal. 6 shot serial#234100 made in 1863 and the stamping on the top of the barrel is: ADDRESS COL. SAM COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA

The fact that it's a six shooter would/should make it an original. The "font" for the letters and numbers also looks like the original type and the nickel plating on the trigger guard. I forget, are you going to sell it? I wouldn't.
