Funny story copied below that I found on foxnews.com website. I think it's funny on two levels. 1 because officers fired 22 shots at a fleeing man, and missed every time. 2, officers apparently didn't know about, or didn't care about rule #3 in my autosignature "The 3rd Rule of Gun Safety - Always Be Sure Of Your Target And What Is Behind It!" Now before you THR people get all worked up, its only funny because nobody got hurt, and I'm really not bashing LEO's, because I don't know the circumstances. But it does seem irresponsible that they had to pay to patch up houses that thier errant bullets hit. They could have killed or injured 22 or more innocent people from collateral dammage. Kind of frightening now that I think about it. Thoughts comments?? Flame on..... :fire:

GARDEN CITY, Idaho (AP) — After officers fired 22 shots at a fleeing man without hitting him, Boise and Garden City police departments said they'd pay nearly $7,000 to repair bullet holes in homes that were hit during the wild confrontation.

According to insurance claims filed with both departments by residents, shots fired by four officers in pursuit of 39-year-old Harlan Hale hit doors, windows, window moldings, garage doors, an all-terrain-vehicle and a clothes dryer. No one was injured in the March 9 chase.

Garden City is a town of about 11,000 residents surrounded by the city of Boise.

The shots came as police tried to apprehend Hale, who had been the target of a manhunt after he was accused of shooting at two Boise police officers during a traffic stop on Feb. 28.

He was arrested March 9 less than a mile from the neighborhood. After a short car chase, Hale drove through a back yard and over a shed before crashing his car into an irrigation canal.

For those who don't know the area, Garden City is .. well.. no garden. I wouldn't go so far as to call it a slum, but if one is looking for trouble in the Boise area, that's where I'd head to look.

I was under the impression that Idaho was a very nice and sleepy, didnt know there were rough and nasty areas in it. I guess you do learn something new every day.

HMM, if one of us serfs did this, we would be in jail, actually under the jail, and never be allowed to own a gun again. Special treatment, for special people.

    Warrant

IIRC, the clothes dryer did have an outstanding warrant.

Oh, Idaho in general is a very nice and laid back place. I just remember when I was there, we averaged about one nutjub a year getting himself shot my a whole bunch of cops he antagonized.

    Price of freedom, I reckon.

Only the military and police are qualified to have guns.

Perhaps it was addressed last week. Do you have a link to the THR thread where it was addressed? I saw the story run for the firt time on Fox news yesterday. But that doesn't mean that the episode in question happened yesterday.
