Matrix, anyone?

Maybe he took the school of Matrix moves to avoid all those shots?

Seriously, I know a CHP officer about 8 years ago. He had just made it in the department and he was an avid gun collector.

After duty one night, he stopped in a local drive-in burger joint. After getting his order he parked his truck, intending to eat his meal in the car when a BG came up on his side of the truck and pointed a gun at the officer (not in uniform) and demanded his money.

The officer felt that he wasn't going to let this BG rob him, so he went for his off-duty weapon and opened up on the BG, who in the CHP officer's estimation was fifteen feet away. He missed all five rounds when the BG put his hands over his ears without firing a shot and surrendered.

The officer could not believe that he missed at that range. Instead of just purchasing guns now, he buys fewer of them and spends a lot more time and money at the range.

Not all LEOs are avid shooters...so... :neener:

To clear up my last post....

Don't mistake my use of the word,"vigor", to mean they would try to shoot an unarmed man that had, in the past, shot at officers  ! What I mean is that I would not be surprised to see a few incidental bruises on this perp when he is finally sat down in his nice little cell !! " Well Sarge, we tried to put him in the car and his head just kept hitting the door hinge, it was the strangest thing I'd ever seen" ;) !!

PS I told you there was an entire side of this story left out :neener: !

Tory & pythonguy

The Diallo shooting could have been avoided by him not running when approached by plainclothes PD.
I have lived in Harlem and white police officers stick out like sore thumbs, evrybody knows who they are and he chose to run into a dimly lit hallway and instead of raising his hands he reaches into his pocket and whips out a small black object.

My brother is ex NYPD and currently works for another dep't close by
he and his buddies on the job often carry a Beratta .25acp
they saw a small black object that very well could have been the same small black gun they themselves carry. It is smaller then my wallet.
If I was a cop in that situation I would shoot too.

I have a good friend whom I've known since elementary school. Went to a military college, then into the army, came out a Ranger officer. Left military service, became a police officer in a medium sized city in East Texas. One night he attempted to stop an armed robbery suspect who had fired at him twice with a small caliber pistol before it jammed/ran dry. My bud EMPTIED his 3rd Gen Smith selfloader (duty weapon) in the direction of the shooter, who was standing underneath a high-intensity floodlight in the parking lot of a club. The entire transaction took place at a distance of less than 20 feet. Bud wasn't hit, and the only shot he connected with was a clean wound between the radius and ulna of the shooter's left forearm. Shooter prompty ran off into the woods adjoining the club building, but the dog brought him out a few minutes later.

At the arraignment the judge remanded the shooter to custody and ordered Bud to 3 days of range time. We still rib him about it, and it's been 20 years now. He did, however, manage to hit the building the shooter was standing next to 3 times out of his full magload.

Regards,
Rabbit.

Not only were they lucky not to shoot any innocent bystanders, they were lucky not to shoot one another.

"Give those guys a roll of quarters and drop'em off at the mall.......".
They need the practice on some of those shooting video games.
Shooting practice does little to prevent the pucker factor, the out of breath factor, the adrenalin factor, but maybe would help the shooting while moving factor; that is unless it is darned good tactical training.

Mostly, in my estimation, they probably hit nothing but anything other than what they had hoped to hit because their sphincter muscles were puckered up about as much as they could be while adrenalin had them jacked up hard and fast as to have them breathing heavy and shaking. Things like that tend to hapen when you are scared poopless and chasing a guy who wants to kill you. Hard to prepare yourself for it, but not impossible, until you have been there once or twice and even then it never gets easy unless you are a psychopath or otherwise mentaly disturbed in a big way.

proper training does tend to reduce the pray and spray factor.

locally we had a situation many years ago, two cops in lobby of apt blding waiting for an elevator to go talk to a witness of a crime, Local head GBer is coming down on same elevator as cops are waiting for, Door opens, recognition takes place and both sides pull out the guns and let loose, best count I came up with (I was hired by the building to patch the holes) was 41 shots. at face to face ranges, no hits, nothing. all misses. The cops and the banger and his 'ho took to H2H in the lobby, results were mixed.
bad guy in cuffs and bleeding. 'ho all cut up and cuffed. one cop cut up. the other needing a change of clothes.
