One of my CCW class students just called me. He had his truck towed and spent 2 hours in the Pine Lawn jail.

He and two friends (all black with Arabic names) were stopped by two black cops for DWB. My student had a gun in an IWB holster and two guns under the seat. He has a CCW permit from FL. Missouri recognizes all permits, period. One of the guns under the seat was a Glock 17 with the 30-round mag for the Glock 18 in it.

The cops had never heard of Missouri's 2003 no-permit car carry law, and claimed it didn't exist.

The cops claimed my student had had 30 days to "transfer" his FL non-resident permit to Missouri, which he had not done. (Utter nonsense.)

The cops claimed the CCW law only allowed you to carry one gun. (Utter nonsense.)

The cops said they were going to contact ATF about the "illegal" 30 round magazine.

After seeing the name on his DL, one cop made rude comments about "You Arabs come over here and f*ck our black women" BS.

I gave my student the number of a very good lawyer. They didn't charge him with anything, just made him spend the time in jail and made him pay to get his vehicle back, so I don't know if anything can be done. They still have his guns.

Idiots.

The bold makes no sense, and is silly. DWB is just whining.
Underlined parts show you are dealing with ignorant trash.
Italics, is where I fully agree.

If the story is true, pat your friend on the back, he just won the lottery.

A good memo to carry

The attachment is a one-page memorandum from the Office of the Missouri Attorney General to certain law enforcement agencies, informing them that under Missouri law, "a permit issued by another state or a political subdivision of another state shall authorize the person in whose name the permit or endorsement is issued to carry concealed FIREARMS [note the plural] on or about his or her person or vehicle throughout the state . . ."

This is hardly the first story about STL police harassing black motorists or in general behaving like thugs. I remember them being one of the prime examples in a study of "abuses of probable cause resulting from the war on drugs."

Well at least he had to witnesses ... :D

Besides the obvious, there are violations of civil rights. But since he wasn't charged can he (and his witnesses) identify the officers? Finding a paper trail under the circumstances might be difficult. However if they can identify these two officers a "good lawyer" can make things interesting.

Bet there isn't any video of the incident ... :cuss:

Pine Lawn is one of the most corrupt municipalities in the area. I am not surprised their police are as worthless as their governing officials.

Update: Channel 4 (CBS) News has the story and they may want to interview me. Will keep you posted.

He is the one

Best read out of 100s of books read in my life.
Maybe John could compile the history he included and more for a history book.

John Ross....

I don't mean to hijack the thread or anything, but John Ross, your book was awesome!! I couldn't believe the way it ended. I never expected that at all. You kept me (literally) on the edge of my seat while I was reading. I opened and I couldn't put it. Even for a book having like, what was it, 820 pages, it wasn't long at all. I really liked how took all of the individual stories, kept with a main story, and tied it all together. I really like the fact that the BATF got their asses kicked in the end. I couldn't believe that the main character did what he did (I don't want to ruin for anybody or hurt John's profits!!! :D ).

It was a great read and a wake up call. Thanks John!!!

John, definelty try to keep us updated.
To any potential CCW holders in the St Louis area: John's class is the one to take!
Per John's advice, I printed a copy of MO's gun statutes, highlighted critical areas and put it in my car.

Continuing in that vein.

John, like I said before, I loved the heck outa your book.

I understand that there may be dickering for the screen rights and like that.

I don't know with whom, but I hope it's Mel Gibson. Of course somebody else hast to fill in for the early Henry.

I can predict that if your book makes it to the big screen there will be as much managed media negative blather about it as there was about "The Passion of the Christ".

Yes, your book was irreverant........In an utterly patriotic kind of way. The statists will flip out in the fear that it gets exposed to the blissninny masses.

Tell whomever you are dickering with that I, for one, will garauntee at least 2 tickets.

I loved that book.

Yeah, guys, if y'all aren't familiar with the St. Louis area...

St. Louis _city_ is actually fairly small, and doesn't have a huge population - maybe 200,000. The rest of the metro area is made up of small municipalities, ranging in size from a few dozen residents up to what, around 100,000 or more? Whole metro area is over 2,000,000 population.

And none of 'em talk to the others. The small municipalities with police depts are essentially ticket factories... some of 'em operate speed traps with religious fervor.

I'm surprised that someone was pulled over DWB in that area. May be something else prompted it, and may have escalated into "I'm the cop, now you shut up."

I'll guess that the guy's guns are GONE. Chain of custody gonna be interesting.

Hmmm... I wonder...

Okay! No e-mail, but hey, probably wouldn't hurt if a few hundred folks would call and ask why they don't train their cops better...

DWB= driving while black. still cause to be pulled over in many high end communities across the nation.

in our local area there is also STB , standing there black. generaly good for at least a summary disorderly conduct ticket.
