Are you THE John Ross, the author of Unintended Consequences?

I'm hoping he's John Ross, the author of the SOON TO BE FORTHCOMING sequel to UC.

Hey John, once you finish helping your student, get back to work on the sequel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Headless, St. Louis is very "interesting." I wish I could say this behavior by the police over there is uncommon, but it is not.

One of my dear friends from law school was from St. Louis. She left because of a DWF incident--in Richmond Heights!:uhoh:

May the skies turn legal pad yellow over Missouri.:)

I live in an upper-middle class area of western St Louis county, almost everyone is white Judaio/Christian, almost 0 blacks. I can asure you, DWB is a crime in West St Louis county. Or at least probable cause.

John, I hope the cops get their tails kicked. Please keep us updated. I hope this goes far as another piece in the puzzle of restoring our rights.

By the way, my brother gave me your book, and I read the entire thing this past weekend (Sat-Sunday). I was more angry during the reading of that book then I have been in many years. Unintended consequences has resparked a fire in my own heart for active and aggressive participation in the fight for our rights. I was actually going to start a thread on it, but shoot this does just fine. Thank you for the effort of writing the book, its just become one of my favorites, right after the Bible, Les Miserables, and William Blackstone, each for its own genre.

Blessings

Nick Ellis

DWB?

It's hard to understand how driving while black can be problematic in Pine Lawn. The population seems to be predominantly black if not 100% black. This is the impression I get when driving through Pine Lawn and it's close neighbor Wellston. I of course have no population figures to back this up only my personal observation.
As to the "unprofessionalism" of their police force, they do seem to have a reputation. It seems to me that no matter what your race you wouldn't want to be pulled over in Pine Lawn.

Pine Lawn is a lower income inner ring suburb of St. Louis, renowned in the area for the corruption of its officials (KTVI-2 news has them as almost a regular feature for their investigative reporting). Getting busted for DWB there is amusing, since the population is mostly African-American.

Crime there is at least average for the area. While you wouldn't necessarily be on East St. Louis levels of alert, I would take pains to avoid it.

It is NOT a well to do upper class area, such as Ladue or Chesterfield. It would not surprise me at all if the cops there were ignorant and power tripping; their bosses (police chief and mayor) isn't much better.

Ok, Pine Lawn is a pit. And there's a ton of corruption like most inner city governments. And the cops probably are incompetent and corrupt. But I doubt they'd pick up these guys for a DWB in a nearly 100% black community. That just stretches credulity. And honestly, if they picked them up because they were Muslims behaving suspiciously I'd have no problem with that. But that would require that the cops be doing their jobs - unlikely in Pine Lawn.

My problem with this story is the unprofessionalism of the cops and their unfamiliarity with the prevailing laws in the state of Missouri.

I took John's CW course and loved it. I do believe in a citizen's right to keep and bear arms. But I do wonder how many bad guys are getting their CW permit for nefarious purposes.

John, you need to concentrate on

writing those Ross in Range columns! don't worry about the sequel to UC. your columns are superb. I have forwarded them onto many people. so get your student hooked up with the lawyer and then start writing again!
