If my daughter like the Beretta-92, what else might she like?

I took a daughter shooting last weekend, and she REALLY liked the Beretta-92. She was very good with the Beretta and with a 1911, but she liked the Beretta the most.

I'm thinking of giving her a Beretta for Christmas, but a thought occured to me: It might be a good deal if she got one of the newer guns (not Berettas) that have swap-out grip inserts, that allow the gun to be customized to hands of different sizes. That way, she can let her own daughter try it out when she gets older.

So, my question for you all: Which of the guns with swappable grip inserts is the closest match in overall "feel" for a Beretta? If none of them are close to a Beretta, which would you recommend I have her try out?

If she wants exchangeable grips she could try the Beretta 90-two is the updated version of the 92fs

You could try a px4 or any other da/sa gun like fnp/fnx, cougar, etc.

But if she likes the 92, get her a 92. Unless she shoots something else and likes it just as much or more.

Maybe the CZ-75 or Stoeger Cougar. Realistically if you're looking for something close (metal framed, separate grips, DA/SA) that's also "modern" there's not a whole lot out there. Most of them are older designs ore clones thereof. Very few of them are much if any more recent than the Beretta.

Not that they're bad, but most of the ideas for that generation of pistol have been just about perfected and most all the design work these days is in polymer guns (leaning mostly towards striker fired, but there are new DA/SA polymer designs still coming out too).

Ultimately it should be her choice. Give her a card at Christmas with a certificate for the gun of her choice from the local gun store. Have her check out the FNX-9 while she is there.

My son really wanted a Nintendo DS. I didn't want him in his room all day long. I bought him an X Box 360 with Kinect. Guess what he wants this year??? Hint: it's made by Nintendo.

Don't fight what makes sense, unless she really wants a trip to Europe.

if she liked the 92 that much... why not just buy her a 92? you can buy your granddaughter her own pistol when the time comes.

M9. Seriously though, if its her gun get her a 92.
i agree, just get the lady what she wants.

i wanted to get mine a kimber super carry pro, but she mentioned she liked the cdp compact better. made my decision easier and lighter on my pocket book too. just get her the 92

Bring her to the gunshop and have her check out all the guns, have her hold them and have her pick for herself.

If she likes the Beretta Model 92, indeed why would you keep looking? If price or model selection is a consideration, maybe consider the Taurus PT-92 or one of its variants instead.

I shoot a Beretta 92FS. The CZ75 is very close to it in size, fit, and ergonomics. My favorite CZ75 is the "PCR" Compact version which is a little smaller and lighter than either the CZ75 or 92.

Girls *love to shop* and have a collection of brand named shoes, purses, dresses, you name it ...

So your daughter has desired that she wants to spend her time shopping at the local firearms stores :p ... hope she doesn't mind if Dad tags along

Nothing wrong with the idea of owning a Beretta 92 FS as your very first handgun :D

So let her start with the Beretta Brand and see where it leads ;)

Women are funny. Wonderful, but funny. My wife bought, literally bought, my Gen3 26 then shot my model 20. Now I'm worried about losing the 20. My daughter had to have a Gen3 Glock 19, now she wants a 26. What's a fellow to do? Buy more guns? :)

My wife loves the Beretta lines. She has ... ten? I think?

Just give her the Beretta. Don't overthink this. She likes it, you have the cash, she shoots it well. What more is there?

[edit]

On a bit of tangent here, but why do you feel the need to correct her choice? You said yourself, she likes it, shoots it well and it's by no means a pistol that will fall apart after three hundred rounds.
I always wonder as to why a lot of people feel the need to correct specifically a woman's choice in weapons. Especially if they themselves established it's a good weapon for them. Why all this second guessing? Is there some sort of mysterious aura about women that requires a different weapon from a male? Is there some trust issue with the woman "being able to handle" it?
I guess being around very capable females my whole life I have never gotten this.

As others have said, the CZ-75 and Sig P226 also have that full size feel, but adjustable grips are not really there. You can now buy an "E2" P226 which has a thinner grip, but I don't think it is adjustable enough for you.

I would try the Sig 2022...it is adjustable in the sense the you can put on a thin, medium or thick grip.

Wow, a lot of venom in this thread. Nobody's trying to 'correct' the lady's choice of firearms. There's nothing wrong with the Beretta 92, and if that's what she decides she wants, then she should have one.

On the other hand, it doesn't hurt to have options. Now that we have an idea of what she likes (full size, metal frame, DA/SA, etc), we can suggest other similar handguns for her to try. If she tries them and still wants a Beretta, that's fine. If she decides she wants a Sig, or a CZ, or something else entirely, then that's fine too.

How about the walther p99

I shoot the BERETTA 92 fairly often and own more BERETTA 92's than any other type pf pistol. It is my house gun as well.

Still, I like the WALTHER P99. It has a great grip shape and feels as good as the BERETTA 92 Compact does in my hand. The Compact is my favorite of the BERETTA 92 series.

Either one would be an excellent choice in my experience.
