If you are CC'ing a 5" 1911...

Brommeland Max Con V for IWB and a Wild Bill's Concealment speed scabbard for OWB. Belts are a Wilderness 5 stitch or a Wild Bill's leather gun belt.

I'm carrying a Colt Government Model in a Milt Sparks VM II. Carried on a Beltman 1-1/2" gunbelt. I also use Perry suspenders to support it all.
Most of my OWB carry has been with Mitch Rosen pancake style holsters. They work great for me.

I have a P12 that I finally decided I was too fluffy to carry IWB. I had to cinch my belt so tight I felt like i was wearing a saddle. I couldn't do anything but stand. Walking was hard, sitting impossible, driving I had to undo my belt. (you know what that can lead to) so I decided to downsize to my SP101 and skip the cheeseburger.

Kydex holsters have been the norm for me for awhile. Aholster belt holster or the Fobus C21. But, just got a Galco Avenger and think it's a pretty good choice. Still breaking it in, but wears well and is comfortable. Am looking at the leather holsters again, who woulda thunk it.

I've used a Galco N3. I'm very happy with it. The single offset loop works well so long as your belt is wide enough to fill the loop, and the belt should also be stiff to put up with the torque created by the holster.

I build kydex holsters so i am a little biased:) Typically i run OWB and can "cover" rather than conceal with a shirt. If jacket weather not a problem to be concealed. For IWB i know some guys that run a Galco triton

85% of the time the Miami Classic by Galco
15% of the time a Safariland Speed Paddle

I have two holsters for my Kimber Pro Carry II. One is a poly paddle holster. My second is one I just finished making for my self. Turn out really nice. The gant is about 12 degrees which for me is a little more comfortable. It rests on my side much cleaner than a 15. After hand stiching it and molding it to the gun I dyed it a med. brown. Once it dries I will put a couple coats of super sheen on it and buff it. Looks like a store bought holster...

For those of you who CC a Full Size 1911..

What holster/Belt Setup have you found to be the best for you?

I'm not exactly the smallest person and I have had experience with ITW Holsters which I find to be not the most comfortable. I've decided maybe that's because I've never paid good money for quality belts/holsters..

So..Help me out with a good ITW Holster as well as a standard or "high rise" holster to best conceal the 1911...What are you guys using?

a distinct possibility!

Beltman for belts (I have two, one bullhide, one horsehide)
Crossbreed for holsters (Supertuck, I have three and will probably order two more next time I order from CB for various guns)

I use a polymer reinforced belt and a Galco NSA2 or else a Don Hume #10 holster. I'm also a big fan of deadeyeluke holsters.

I'm pretty old school and have requirements of my holsters based on a long time carrying.

For an IWB holster, the original Milt Spark's Summer Special designed by Bruce Nelson is great for the 1911. It has been copied by all the major manufacturers who have been unable to improve on it much...with the possible exception of the Spark's VM 2 which spaces the loops further apart.

For an OWB holster, I like the Spark's BN55 or Alessi ACP/DOJ. This was also a Bruce Nelson design and also exist in most manufacturer's lines

What both holsters share is a reinforced mouth and retention through fitting

The belt I use most often is from Wilderness Outfitters. I wear their frequent flyer the most to avoid having to take it off when going through screening...although I noticed that this changed with the new equipment

Been using a Milt Sparks (IWB) summer special for 10 + years, best possible quality, I can't talk of other holsters because I don't need one other than the Sparks. The Cross Breed IWB looks like it may work well, I may buy one.

Are you guys Summer Special or Summer Special II fans?

Is there a feature of one you prefer over the other, or just the basic design?

I'm sort of a minimalist. I use a Yaqui slide quite a bit, and I also have a couple of Beltsters (different colors). I like the Beltsters when I fly. At this end, I can carry until I get to the airport, stick the firearm in the appropriate case. And "if" I can, at the other end, once outside the prohibited zone, I just load it and stick in the built in "holster".

Some folks say a paddle holster or some other sort of "clip" on would work, but I've seen folks drop paddles on the floor.

I've only carried using the original SS. With the SS 2, you gain the backflap extension and the interchangeable belt loops to accomodate different belt widths. The backflap would keep the thumbsafety lever from digging into your side, but I wouldn't really used the interchangeable loops

I haven't used the interchangeable loops on my SS2s - but that backflap alone is well worth the $5 difference.
