If you have 7.62x25 and .38 Super, can you try this?

Can you fit 7.62x25 rounds into a 38 Super double stack magazine?

Yes.... I am thinking of creating a monster!

It depends.

Yeah, you knew that, didn't you?

The cartridge length will likely be the limiting factor. Most 38 Super mags aren't long enough - you didn't way which one you had - but the other dimensions are close enough. I load 9mm Largo in CZ52 mags and there's still plenty of length.

Let us know how the Monster works.... :scrutiny:

I am thinking of trying to convert a EAA Witness .38 Super to 7.62x25. The 7.62x25 is about 1.5mm longer than 38 Super. There might be clearance issues, but I would think I have that much room. I believe the bases are extremely close, so the extractor should work. I think the slide hole is big enough for extraction as well. I should just be able to get a custom barrel and drop it in, I hope.

18+1 of 7.62x25... wouldn't that be awesome? :what:

18+1 of .38 Super loaded to IPSC standards isn't too bad by its self. 125gr at 1350 isn't anything to sneeze at.

When the broomhandle came out, it was offered in 7.63 mauser and in 9mm mauser, which was essentially the 7.63 round blown straight. I don't have access to exact dimensions, but I suspect they're similar to the 9x23 Winchester or .38 Super.
Browning made their P-35 in .30 Luger for some reason, and these were fun little pistols. I have no trouble believing that the same thing or similar could be obtained from the EAA witness.

Back in the late 70's early 80's a writer for Guns and Ammo took a 1911 and with various slide/barrel combos made a multi caliber pistol and IIRC he had a 9mm,38 super and 30 Mauser conversion. also Numerich Arms or Sarco was bringing in 1911's in 30 Mauser as well.

I have converted a Star Super B from 9x19mm to 9x23mm.
I have converted a Tokarev 9x19mm to 9x23mm.
I have converted a .308 sniper trainer bull barrel into a really long 7.62x25mm Tokarev Barrel.

I had a bunch of Chinese 1911 conversion barrels for the Tokarev cartridge, I got at a gun show junk box.
Some mysterious man came to my door to buy them.

I'd be interested in seeing any of the project guns people come up with for this. I was looking into modifying an FN 5.7 as that seems to be one of the few cartridges longer than the 7.62 Tokkie round.

If there is any manufacturer out there that puts a modern Doublestack pistol together for this, I will buy it. Yes, even if it's Taurus. :D

I like this thinking. I have a friend that has EAA witness in .38 super. I may buy it from him. He has put in a heavy recoil spring and shoots 9x23 winchester in it and it looks like there is room for more. Only prob is making a barrel for it. I am toooo broke to pay somebody for a 1 off piece. It can be done on EAA platform with the right cash or backing to get a run of barrels made. 18+1 capicity with rounds using the 9mm casehead this includes the 7.62x25 which I would love in a modern platform doublestack.

The round is too long for a Witness .38 Super mag. No amount of fiddling with the gun will make it fit. You would need to somehow shorten the OAL of the cartridge. Perhaps with truncated bullets of some sort, but even then it would be tight.

You can easily get 9x23 Winchester up to 1500fps+ with 115 gr bullets. No need to really bother with the 7.62x25 is all you're interested in is velocity.

If you have 9x19 dies, you can load 9x23 Win. with them. Really just need the brass (it is thicker than 38 SA).

9x23 usually works in a stock 38 SA Witness.

My 9mm WinMag will throw 147 grains at a tad over 1,450 fps but I think you would have a hard time finding many auto pistols that can handle a round where the brass alone is 29mm long! :what:
