If you went to war, what would you take?

Double Naught Spy, I agree with you that logistics might be a problem.

But if you are in such a bad situation that you are using a handgun in the first place, just how much shooting do you think you are gonna get to do with it before somebody pops you in the noggin with and AK 47?

This question was intended for entertainment purposes only...

BHP 9mm. Of course, I'd jazz it up a bit with two-tone finish, ambi safety, and some beautiful wood grips. Ya gotta have some style

The M9, first since I love the Beretta feel and design. And the big reason over a CZ or a HP, the availibilty of parts and magazines.

doublenaught :

Just where the heck are you going to find .45 acp ammo in Iraq or Kuwait? How about in Afghanistan?

at the iraqi equivalent of wallyworld --> Ahbduimart!!!!

:D :D

okay first off there *are* still folks carrying .45s out there, just not so many so need to find out where their FARPs are and know what to say to keep their security from shooting you and questioning surviving family members later. Given the opportunity I would try for all of the above.

Given no such opportunity I'd see if I could swap that 9mm for an M203 (if that's what they're still calling them these days) and a bunch of grenades. This may sound silly (scratch that, this probably does sound silly but) I never got to fire a 203 as an EM or NCO, not until I went through ROTC and found out that not only was I fairly good with it, but shooting it is a blast! :D I'd much rather have that, whatever rank I went back as, than a useless 9mm... (yes I'm a .45 bigot - does it show all that much? )

Someone posted on here that they would want to use hydra-shocks in combat?? Hmmmm seems to me that a full metal jacket would offer better penetraion and that is what I would want since the bad guys may have some type of armor on like we do!! I do agree that parts and ammo is gonna be a big issue so I would stick with something that was issued but I would probably buy a brand new one and break it in prior to going.

I come from an Asian country where guns are prohibited and standard issue sucks so If we had to go to war with one of our aggressive muslim neighbours (ever present possiblity), I'd have no choice but to use my standard issue S&W M67 4" barrel revolver. (Senior NCOs like me get 6-shooters, officers get SIG P226s)

Having said that, I would pack my own body armor, kevlar helmet (m only issued a steel pot), US air force survival knife, MREs (we still get c-rats :barf: ), steiner binoculars and maglight among other things.

Would also try to smuggle some black market bought Winchester .38 cal +P 130gr SXT rounds into camp though. :D

22Magnum NAA minirevolver to surprise any idiot what thought he had me captured. Don't need much ammo, it's for exactly what you use it for in the US against muggers: close range surPRISE!

:)

Given that I'm a grunt and not issued a handgun, something small and concealable (but reliable) in 9mm is a must. Ruger SP101 in 9mm is rare, but exist. Ditto Security Six 2.5" barrel 9mm sixguns. Both need moonclips - bring lots.

Rifle? Easy. Cooper's Scout Rifle in 308. 10rd mags in a fast-action boltgun, not that big, but accurate. Screw spray'n'pray.

Alternative: any of the heavy-barrel target AR15 semis that run circles around a mil-spec piece for accuracy. Many are MOA capable even in 223...I'd prefer a 308 variant. If I could pack my own ammo, the freakiest AR variant of 'em all has lots of "pure psycho appeal":

Looks perfectly normal, unless somebody noticed the end of the barrel :p.
