RPD, RPK, CZ27, or PPS43. I like .30 cal.
Or a Daewoo K2.
I like ARs, but would want a gas piston gun for full auto.
I don't want it pooping where it eats when rocking and rolling. Hot propellant gases dumped into the receiver give you an overheated gun quicker than a gas piston gun. If I had a FA DI AR, I'd end up shooting it mostly SA, and what's the fun in that?

Ma Duce gets the nod, too.
Bren would make me happy.
Beretta M12 would be at the top of the list, also.

I gotta call BS on the BAR barrel getting red hot after a couple of mags.
If it got that hot, it would burst, as the heat treat would be ruined.
Plus, it would cook off ammo long before it got that hot.
No offense, but do you actually know what red hot means?

Flame suit on.

IME/IMO full auto offers no advantage over its semiauto counterpart until you get into the high cyclic rate belt fed stuff, and that is really only when you have to repel human wave type enemy action.

So for me the answer is OTHER please state, and that would probably be an M249 SAW. From what I understand there are very few transferable examples, with most of them being the early FN Minimi variants.

Just my .02,
LeonCarr

Voted for the one I have, an M14. It satisfies my full auto cravings well enough. I love the semi auto variants and when I wanted a machine gun it seemed natural to look for a compatible one.

There's really not anything I really want in that list. Give me my pick of NFA, and I'd go for a really good light machine gun. Ideally an 8mm Bren gun. The LEwis is a blast to shoot too, and maybe an RPD or ZB30. But I'm not really into subguns or assault rifles.

I voted M16 because with an M16 lower I can build just about anything I wanted from there. Piston? Can do. 7" 9mm? Sure. 50 round 5.7x28 with a 10" barrel? Absolutely. 8" 300 Blackout suppressed? Hogs look out! :what:

And even if I didn't get around to all that, 5.56 ammo is relatively affordable so I could have a good time pretty often.

With the M16 as the most practical choice I've gotta admit that to me the coolest one would be a Glock 18, concealed carry (which I think would be a bad idea) or not. I'd love to let a 33 round mag rip, BRRRRRRRAP!

Maybe a Thompson, heavy beast that it is. WW2 GI configuration please. I'd take that and buy a Willys or a WW2 Harley Davidson and drive around the farm on the weekends.

Now that I think about it, the G18 would be sweet while riding a motorcycle at the farm too!

Ok I'm done. ;)

IME/IMO shooting sub guns and semi carbines of the same caliber I disagree. Shoot something like a P90 and then shoot a semi PS90. There is a significant difference.

The only thing I find bad about the AK and AR designs is the large offset of the triangular front sight blade, making it more difficult to hit very small game with it up close as a survival rifle. In that respect I liked the M-14 front sight better. Otherwise I think the M4 modern design is quite good overall.

Other: I'll take something man-portable and belt-fed in 7.62 NATO. An FN MK48 MOD 1 would be about right.

I already picked the Thompson but the M231 Firing Port Weapon would also be cool. Not practical at all but most cool stuff is impractical.

I picked the mp5, but thats only if the 10mm version counts lol; otherwise I would choose a hk416 as well.

I am not a big fan of full auto small arms, I have no use for them and certainly cannot afford the ammo.

If they were easily and readily available to me though, and ammo cost was not a factor, I would prefer a pistol caliber carbine as they are easier to control in full auto.

I have fired a full-auto Thompson which was a hoot to say the least, however they are heavy and awkward.

Of the choices out there, I like .45acp caliber which really narrows the field down for me, so....I'd take this:

Heckler&Koch UMP45

...with an M16 lower I can build just about anything I wanted from there.
This.

Then I'd just have to get a 9mm upper, .308 upper, 5.56mm upper, 5.45mm upper, 7.62x39 upper, etc.

Get a dedicated .22lr upper and the fun never, ever ends! And cheap to feed too!

Of course, this means you no longer have ONE full auto gun. :D
