Ignorance Encounter:

I can only say this much, and I am a gun lover so don't take this the wrong way!

I am in a band that well.....is pretty well known. We'll just leave it at that. And while many of the people in the industry I know hate guns, there are some that love them as well. But the reason everybody now is afraid of them is because of the unfortunate events back in Dec. when "Dimebag" Darrel Abbott was shot while performing on stage. I remember back when that happened, my band had the whole month booked with shows, the anxiatey left but not before terrorizing us and our crew for 3-5 shows after. Truly not a good feeling. For those of you who have performed on stage. You cannot see the crowd your up there doing what you love to do, and at the same time worring about getting shot. :what:

Dimebag was a friend of the band. He was the pinnacle of what a national band should be. If you caught him out and about in Deep Ellum he would always greet you with a huge texas "Hell Yeah", and then you would "getcha a' pool" means Drink. LOL! But yeah he will sorely be missed.

Sorry to go on a rant about that, I know it isn't gun related but I figured for all you that hadn't heard about this it would prove usefull.

No apologies necessary for me, sorry for the loss of your friend. People that commit crimes like that are the 1 in 10 million who ruin it for law abiding gun owners. I'm sorry to say until I heard about it I had never heard of Dimebag, I wouldnt mind a brief anthology or just a couple of things I could listen to. I worked a few bars before I'd had enough of it and now I work the door for these society people, so I know what you're saying.

As far as the anxiety, the best advice I've ever heard came from a guy I knew that survived the cliffs at Normandy, it went something like, " If your number is up, it's up, if it isn't it isn't. So, there's no sense worrying about it, just go about your business and get your job done."

I know that's not verbatim but it catches the idea.

The industry's anti gun feelings are quite understandable from your point of view but it is the gun being blamed and not the act of one low life individual.

Again, sorry for your loss. The name John Lennon comes to mind.

:(

"My soul for a gun" - Darrel Abbott

This says it all to me and everybody should be deprived of them at least once to realize just what that means.

In the music world there are far more Bonos than Ted Nugents so the anti-gun response shouldn't be a big surprise.

Ignorant is a good word to describe the typical reaction from anti-types.

Joey,

Did a search on Dimebag and listened to somew of his stuff, not my style but I can appreciate his playing. Very innovative. Sad that he's gone. :(

Joey101 - I used to road crew for a band (Paradox) that used to play the same converted bowling alley in Lawton Oklahoma as Pantera, back in the days when they were still a "Hair Metal" outfit. I can honestly say I never heard a bad word about him, unlike many of the "touring" bands of the day. He will be missed. Feel free to let us in on what instrument you play, what kind of music, etc...I used to have a band & am trying to put another together.

I recommend classical music. Almost all of the musicians (of note, at least) are safely in their graves and cannot offend me by their politics.

And if you have not listened to Bach's Mass in B Minor or your choice of Mozart's piano concertos, you haven't lived.
