Taking family members to catch a plane at Atlanta airport tomorrow. Does anyone know for sure if it is legal to have a weapon in the car if you are just driving through to take passengers in to the airport ? I Don't want to go into Atlanta without my CCW,but even worse don't want to find myself in a world of hurt....so..... anyone know the law on that??

It's hard to envision a restriction on parking lots. I was wandering around inside our terminal here and I was packing the whole time but I didn't try to enter the secure zone.

i'v lived in atlanta.
it shouldnt be restricted, it should be mandatory.

Well, GA law is very well written so that you will be safe. Neal Boortz wrote about this a few weeks ago. I have no facts for the case though.

I fear we are no longer free. We have allowed and continue to allow this to go on, in the name of safety and security. If we allow it to continue, the only ones safe and secure will be those in power. I guess this kind of crap doesnt interest the NRA, huh?

cheygriz,
Sorry to disagree with you, FDR was VERY bad, but our freedoms and individual sovereignty was lost with the election of the tyrant Abraham Lincoln.:fire:

It is against federal law to bring loaded firearms to airports. If you fall into the exceptions you'll know. (i.e. you're a sworn LEO or armed gaurd working as such at the airport.)

"Airport," for our purposes, means airport property. You'd be surprized at how much ground that might entail, depending on the given airport.

Now some of you are thinking "How would anyone know?" How indeed. However, should you be found out, for what ever reason, be it a vehicle search or the judicious use of your firearm in the clearest-cut case of self defense that there ever was expect to be arrested, tried, and convicted in federal court.

Erik says........
It is against federal law to bring loaded firearms to airports.

Texas law says....

PC 46.03 - PLACES WEAPONS PROHIBITED. (a) A person commits an offense if the person intentionally, knowingly or recklessly possesses or goes with a firearm, illegal knife, club or prohibited weapon listed in Section 46.05 (a)

(5) in or into a secured area of an airport.

So you won't incure state charges.

Little comfort, as a felony conviction is a felony conviction for our purposes.

I've got a TSA firearms course upcoming (In the next few weeks). I'll try to remember to get the specifics.

It is not against federal law to bring a gun into an unsecure area of an airport. If I am wrong, please state the statute.

If that were the case, every bush pilot in AK would be in federal prison, and every hunter checking his arms in his checked baggage likewise.

Got any facts to back that up, Erik? Cite Title and Section of U.S. Code, please.
