Illinois has a track record of passing bad, (or fill in a number of other adjectives), 2A legislation. It appears as though their ghost gun bill either intentionally or unintentionally includes P320s, P365s and ARs. Attached is a link to an article from TTAG. I'm assuming that if Pritzker signs this there'll be lawsuits challenging it.

It looks like they defer to ATF for the definition of the serialized portion:

"For models of firearms in which multiple parts provide such housing or structure, the part or parts that the Director of the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives has determined are a frame or receiver constitute the frame or receiver."

So the law doesn't appear to have any impact on the guns listed.

I hope for the people living there this is correct. I was born and raised there, and moved to Wisconsin last summer. The shenanigans I saw Illinois play in trying to undermine 2A rights was shameful. I don't trust them and view anything they do through that lens.

Glad you got out. I'm holding out for another year and a half, till my son graduates. Then if I can find some sucker who actually wants to live in Illinois and wants to buy my house, I'm outta here too.

We have I think a few more years of an insane housing market....however when that bubble pops it is going to make the last time look like nothing.

Nothing new, they talk about one thing, then write legislation to ban much more, been going on at least back to “Saturday Night Specials” that they touted/preached as cheap and only good for killing, then wrote legislation that would ban nice longer barreled Smiths and Colts.

This kinda fits here.

It gets into a little bit of well you can make stats say anything you want....as well as the data points are just not good.

I believe this is much ado about nothing. P320s, P365s, and others are chassis-based firearms where a metal chassis is put into a polymer grip assembly. Per federal regulations, the chassis is the serialized part of these firearms, and the grip assembly always has a window cut into it so that the serial number of the chassis is clearly visible without disassembling the firearm.

I think TTAG is making too much out of the phrase "visible from the exterior," since the chassis and its serial number are visible from the exterior.

As for banning "ghost guns," all that is required is to have an FFL mark the "ghost gun" in exactly the same manner as the newly signed ATF regulation § 478.92 Identification of firearms and armor piercing ammunition specifies. (Almost as if the Illinois Lawmakers and the ATF coordinated efforts.)

Reading the article, it seems that "The Truth About Guns" either can't read simple English or is purposely twisting the truth to fit their own agenda.

This bill doesn't affect the legality of the SIG 320 or 365 as their chassis (frames as defined by the AFT) are numbered and clearly visible
