The Anti-gunners from Chicago are going to try to get a third reading on HB 2414(semi-auto & .50 cal ban) and HB 1098(.50 cal ban) than straight to a floor vote on Monday 5/30/2005.. So the Senate can vote Tuesday 5/31/2005 before session is out for summer. It is time boys and girls to get on the phones. They are not on vacation so neither can we. Call you Senator too.

It Looks to me like it got sent

Back to Rules committee. Maybe dead for the year? We can only hope. I'll make my calls anyway.

I spoke with Rep. Curt Granderg's office an hour or so ago. Curt is the House Majority Leader. They told me it was essentially dead. Even if it got a third reading and passed (what's up with those turncoat RINOs in the collar counties anyway?) that tere was no way it could get through the Senate and back to the House in 24 hours.

Amendment 6 which is what's in the rules committee now, would prohibit transfer of grandfathered weapons exept to your heirs. We need to kill this thing, and drive stake through it's heart and put coins over it's eyes. It has no support in Southern Illinois. If it passes it wil be the gun friendly republican party that takes away our rights. There is an unholy alliance between the Chicago socialist branch of the democratic party and the affluent collar county republicans on the gun issue.

Let me just say : Thanks to all you guys for keeping us abreast of the goings on this year! Didja ever get the impression we'd be half past screwed if it weren't for the internet these days? :)

If it was not for the Internet we would be in a world of hurt. The speed things move now a days.... its the only way to keep up with the politicians-terrorists

Well Good news, and Bad news in Illinois land

hb2104 which makes the transportation of firearms the same statewide, and usurps home rule passed both houses. SB1333 which closes the so called "gun show loopehole" passed both houses. Which means we will (still have Blago to get past) be able to have fanny pack carry everywhere, but when you buy a gun at a gun show Blago and his cohorts will have an illegal record of it and will not have to destroy those records. :(

Almost correct. The ammunition can be anywhere except loaded into the gun. So a loaded magazine or speedloader in the fanny pack with the gun is acceptable, although honestly, I've found that it's faster and simpler if the ammunition is on my belt because it takes two hands to draw from the fanny pack anyway.

The myth that ammo has to be transported separately refuses to die. It even made its way into an official letter from Terry Gainer to all Illinois FFL's when he was head of the state police (my dad was a storefront FFL back then, and he believed it for a long time.)

(I pull the rip cord with my left hand and try to have my right hand on the gun and my left on the magazine at the same moment, then draw the gun to a low position while bringing the magazine around. From there, you still have to rack the slide and bring the gun up to firing position. But I never expected this to be fast; I carry in a fanny pack mostly to exercise a right that has been infringed too long.)

You guys are correct on the ammo. Problem is for me anyway...Running into a police officer who will not listen to reason.
