Important!-Update 4/27/07 @ 12:41 EDT

Copied this from AR15.com, posted to facebook and myspace, thought I'd let you know to e-mail this clown and let him know how you feel.

Saw this on a online board I hang out at. I have the respect and compassion for the VT families and students and staff, but this is sad.

Dear valued vendor,

In light of the recent unfortunate incident at Virginia Tech there has been a Corporate decision made to show our support to the families and loved ones of the victims by displaying no guns at the Boomtown Gun Knife and Hunting Show scheduled for May 11, 12 & 13.

The show will continue as scheduled. All hunting equipment, knives, accessories, sporting goods etc... will be displayed and sold as normal. The ONLY change to the show will be that there will be NO guns displayed.

I will be away at the Laughlin River Run today through Sunday. I will return to the office on Monday to handle any changes you may need to make in your table order status. Should you desire a change you may call and leave your name, company name and the table changes you desire on the answer machine

Please NO OTHER calls.

PLEASE leave all questions until Monday when it will be appropriate to call me. The answer to your most common questions has been supplied. YES we are having a Gun Accessory, Knife, Hunting, Sporting Goods Show as scheduled. NO you may not bring guns. All questions related to who, what, why etc are: The decision has been made to honor the victims of Virginia Tech. END OF STORY.

Rest assured the customers will still be there to shop. You have all seen the advertising. I also wish to offer my thanks to all of you as gun enthusiasts and vendors for continuing to support all my efforts in this venture. I appreciate your continued support of the show.

Thank you for your support and understanding,
Bert Guy

Then it ain't a gun show anymore. I go to gun shows to guess what, SEE GUNS.

How the heck is this 'honoring the victims'?

Bingo, Avenger.

I'd be pretty upset if I paid for table space then the guys running the show pulled something like this. Ben Fold's "Song for the Dumped" comes to mind :D

On a related note, I'm still waiting for the ford dealership down the road to stop showing the trucks in the front lot to "honor" the victims of rollover accidents.

They would owe me a refund if I were a vendor there. Oh and yes they would pay the refund, either voluntarily or by a judge's decision in small claims court. Changing the contract after it has been agreed to. Gun show no more. Wonder how they would survive if all vendors pulled out to "honor" their wishes?

just don't go. who's gonna bother shelling out bucks to go to a show that won't have guns?

it will probably be a pretty lame show, as much as i love to hunt.

aren't most hunting shows done in late summer early fall before the season gets underway? just like most fishing shows are done in mid to late winter?

doesn't make any sense whatsoever.

His heart is in the right place, but the execution is pathetic.

There could be so many other ways to honor the VT Students, Family and Friends than this. :scrutiny:

Anybody told Tom?

Has Tom (GunTalk) picked up on this yet?

Tom? You watching this?

This might make an interesting item in your show this Sunday.

Heck, maybe we could get an interview.

What on Earth are they thinking?

I can't wait until a car show doesn't show cars out of respect for all the traffic fatalities.

[blank, blank, blankety-blank]

Oh, and just in case it's not clear, even though I live just down the road from the venue, I won't be going to this show.

Makes me wonder how many people who aren't going to hear this piece of information will go there, buy their admission, see there are no guns at a gun show, and demand a full refund. I'd hope that many of them will demand a refund for the fuel they used to get there.

This stinks to high heaven, but it will probably only happen this once when the organizers/decision makers realize they will have to put out a ton of bucks out of their own pockets to cover the charges incurred at the facility by holding the non-gun, gun show.

At least I hope that's the way it works out.

I went to the web site in that announcement. Here is what is on its home page:

Due to their Anti-Firearms industry policies, We no longer accept PayPal.

Amusing hypocrisy.

Boomtown Gun Knife and Hunting Show

That's a pretty lame excuse. It would be fair to say anyone afraid of the evil guns wouldn't be attending in the first place. Bad business!

I sent this person an e-mail last night. Could you folks please send them some e-mails to the site listed in the first post, so we can give these people a piece of our minds?

To Kali Endgame,
why don't you see this as a problem?
Do you have an issue with legal firearms owners being able to enjoy the sport, despite a major tragedy?

A Little Sarcasm

I believe our friend, Kali Endgame, is making light of this.

See the smileys after his post.

Deej86, which email address did you use?

* * *
Here we are, pretty much all going, "hey, we need MORE guns if we're going to effectively combat mass murder," and the guys putting on a GUN show want to hide the guns.

Priceless.

Once again someone in the gun industry/shooting comunity is accepting blame for something that we didn't do. If every vendor, and every would be customer were to not show up, the buisness would be out a lot of money that people would have been willing to spend, how does that honor anyone? If he really wanted to help he would have donated proceeds. It would be about the same to go to your favorite local chinese restraunt only to find they are no longer serving chinese food to basically "apolagise" for the shooters ancestry, which I belive would be insulting to a community that had nothing to do with what happened at VT.

I received the following E-mail

I do NOT in anyway support the decision for NO GUNS. I am quite opposed to the decision.
I will forward this email UP the ladder to the decision makers. The ones that decided NO GUNS
Thanks again,
Bert

Arfin-I used the "questions" e-mail from a hotmail account.
