Improved my shooting 100%

Dusty, I haven't been able to buy primers for over a year so conservation is always on my mind. That and I hate to go anywhere with just an empty piece so the ride home had two in the wheel.
Funny, I do the same thing if I do any impromptu shooting with my carry piece or whatever. It doesn't happen often but I won't leave myself on empty either....

Sorry but this is off topic. I am a newbie here and am clueless as to how to ask a question about primers or anything else for that matter.
Could you please advise me on how to ask a question about primers?? I tried going to general gun discussions/primers but get nothing.
Welcome. Post this in the Reloading forum for primers. You'll catch on. Good luck.

I discovered that the reading glasses fix works for me several years ago. 1.5 reading glasses make handgun or long gun sights nice and clear, and I can also see the target clearly. Probably doesn't work for everyone, but it's worth experimenting to see what you can come up with.

If that doesn't work, try using whatever corrective vision you need to see the target clearly, and a good, bright green laser. Even compared to the reading glasses and no blurry vision issues, the green laser cuts my handgun groups in approximately half. Here's 15 rounds from my CZ 75 P-01 with Green Crimson Trace CMR-203 laser at 11 yards. With irons, my groupings are approximately 2x this size.

The P-01 is the top right gun in this photo:

Well try asking your question about primers either in this thread or go into the reloading thread.

May not be to 79 yet. but the eyes have started failing. Ended up having a specific pair of shooting glasses made up for me which cured the same issues. Have one set with astigmatism correction only for using with rifles, and the other is an inverted bifocal with a focus plane right where I have my front sight

If you can hit a 6" plate at 25 yards, you can use your pistol, around the farm, for pest control. That seems plenty accurate, to me. Nice shooting. IMO, this is functional accuracy.

OP, thanks for posting this and I'll try it at the range next time. I'm 71 and functionally monoccular because of a scarred cornea in my left eye. My right eye gets tired from doing all the work. Only problem is with readers on I might have to hold my 357 revolver so close I might set my beard on fire.;)

What I heard was all I need to hit a 6” target 100% of the time from 25 yards was a $10 pair of reading glasses. BRB.

Decisions, decisions. I wear progressive lenses all the time. Unfortunately, to see handgun sights clearly, I have to tip my head back to an uncomfortable degree. My dominant eye is near sighted, so I can actually see sights pretty clearly without my glasses, but then I need safety glasses. So I had my doc work up a pair of dedicated shooting lenses. Dominant is focused so I can see my sights; off side for distance to see the targets clearly. It has worked really well ... until I switch back to my regular progressives for the drive home. Then it takes my brain a while to sort things out. :)

I hope y’all have poly lens in your glasses when shooting or wear shooting glasses over them. I worked for a lab making glasses a few years back. And the regular lens are not that tough. Poly lens are more expensive of course. But what is ones eyesight worth?

I had both cataracts removed over the last couple of years. It was absolutely incredible after my right eye was done and I could see through the peep sights on the M1. My doc was a petite little lady who is very pro shooting and was about to get her concealed carry permit. I've also got a couple pistols now with RMRs that make shooting really good too. I don't have much problem with regular irons, the front sight is just about where my uncorrected vision is close enough to make it a non-issue.

Right behind you at 69. I find the closer the target, the better my score.
I knew that I didn't see my sights real clear and my hands aren't as steady as they once where hell, I'll be 79 nest month. Today I put on my 1.5 reading glasses from Menards hardware and the sights cleared right up. I use a 6x6 swing plate at 25 yards, now I know some of you young bucks laugh at such a large target but it works for me. I loaded some of my favorite 150 grain 358477 bullets over 6 grains Unique in .38 Special cases in my 4" 686 Smith and when the plate swung 4 times out of 4 shots I grinned and came home. I know many wouldn't consider that much of a shot but for this old codger it sure looked good.
I like to shoot from a foot away. I never miss

My vision has gotten so bad that I am almost close to putting a scope on my 513T and 52C. I did put this on my winchester and it helps but am limited to 100 yards whereas I used to shoot it at 200 yards. Sight as set at 16 moa for 100, shooting wolf match bullets.

@gunner999 welcome to the forum. Don't know what you want to know about primers, but there is a sticky thread at the top of reloading forum about where reloading supplies are. Been looking myself but want a reasonable price. I gave away 200 let's to a friend who's just getting started so I'm shorter than I'd like to be.

Nice shooting op, vision has been deteriorating since I hit 40, irons for me are a thing of the past. Used to shoot pistol comp I'll have to try out glasses on my next range visit, haven't yet cause I didn't want to yield to father time.

+1, 2 & 3 on shooting with reading glasses. Unfortunately, at 72 for me, they haven't helped at 25 yds. I'm lucky if I can get all shots in less than an 8 to 10 inch pie plate. My fliers are still beyond that! I keep thinking practice, practice, practice, will show with improvement. That's why I reload! Keeps me shooting!!!! And I won't give up until I get better!!!

Lord Helps Those Who Help Themselves!!!!
