Maybe you try something like this:
Go with an auction stating that it is being offered locally as well. Factor in costs of shipping/transfer through an auction if it goes outa state, then, if the numbers aren't looking good to you towards the end of the auction - give me a call a day or two out to get a look at it.
I'd dig a used .44 for sure if the numbers and remaining service life are right.
Could just be you'd be surprised by auction results. Be sure to include a lot of quality pictures of what you know is wrong and what you'd look for in particular.
Support your listing well with significant though not overwhelming descriptive text.
In short, make it clear that you are not hiding anything and respond quickly and directly to any "reasonable" questions over the course of the listing.
In any case - I like your general numbers so if we can work something out, cool enough.
