In a riot situation, would you prefer FMJ or HP?

If you were stuck in a riot situations, where things are getting out of hand, let says in a suburban/urban area, there are a mob of around 60 people running at you with guns, metal pipes, and bats, would you prefer using FMJ or HP?

Personally I'd feel comfortable with a belt-fed grenade launcher and a moat.

I don't think it matters as long as you have lots of it. Actually, I'd probably prefer FMJ for reliability reasons, assuming we're talking rifles. If we're talking handguns, JHP for stopping power, and it's reliable in anything I would choose to carry.

Either one, since my rifle's only a 5.56. Anything you can shoot accurately ought to do. Make sure that every shot counts... and have backup. Not just a backup gun - backup people with guns.
In a riot, you want to get with a group of people in a defensible position, if possible... and shotguns to hit their molotovs. Bonus points if it sets 'em on fire.

I no longer live in and seldom visit suburban/urban areas because I just couldn't make up my mind about ammo for fighting off bloodthirsty hoards.

But I'm school-spirited and and my wife and I are both NIU alums---
so it's red and black tip in the enblocs stuffed in the go bag for those mobs who decide to emigrate from Daleystan.

And the mini is stuffed with red and green because my wife loves Christmas.

Wow... LIke anything it really depends on situation.... I would "hope" there would be a iron fence (not chain link but iron spikes) and I would have my pickup (pointed away with clear road ahead) running with anything I wanted (family,friends) loaded inside. Drop in gear and go.
IF thats not a option I would have to defer to (Dang I forget maybe Clint SMith?) "...First don't be there....have a gun, have a back up gun, have plenty of friends who have guns....."
I would (assume) if they only have improvised weapons the odds of body armer is slim. IF I can't get away and must stand my ground I still want physical barrier and my AR with fmj/boat tail/whatever I have handy/loaded in mags. I PRAY I am not alone and those with me are well armed.

Let's keep things within the realm of reality. If you are facing 60 rioters, the last thing you will be worrying about is FMJ or HP.....
