We all know that .45 will outgun a .22 mag mini-revolver any day. We also know that if you can carry the .22 mini, you might as well carry an LCP (.380). We also know that a guy armed with a mini-revolver is a lot better off than just having rocks and sticks. So..without devolving to the above type of comments...

Does anyone out there have stories where the .22 mag mini revolver saved the day?

Aside from the "Box of Truth" experiments with various calibers...does anyone have practical examples of what amount of damage a .22 mag (shot from a mini revolver) will do?

Are there any LEO who use it as a BUG?

Shot an itty bitty snake with one once. Harder than it sounds when you consider the lack of sights on the thing... plus my broken, splinted trigger finger at the time.

Ha.

Out of a 2" barrel, .22 mag ain't much better than .22LR. However, it starts gettin' some zip out of a 4" gun. I have a 1 5/8" LR in a folding holster grip. I want a .22 mini master with LR and Mag cylinders and adjustable sights with a holster grip. I will use it for a wade fishing gun (clipped to the collar of my T shirt to keep it out of the water) and general duty kit gun four outdoor uses. It won't be as short, but it'll still be very concealable and the 4" barrel really helps the .22 mag.

I use my little LR all the time, killed all sorts of stuff with it over the years, snakes included. It's useful accurate out to 15 or 20 yards and I can keep 'em all on the chest at 25 off hand.....somewhere on the chest, might not be a heart shot every time. LOL The little sights are hard to acquire. It ain't the fastest gun to get on target, that's another reason I like the mini master, real sights and some sight radius to work with.

I carry the little mini as a back up. The mini master will be a primary when I'm wade fishing, but I'll still have a bigger gun along any other time.

Well I have mention before I got an NAA .22lr quite a while ago to carry when I didn't want to carry anything bigger. I really don't know how many LEO's carry them as back up but I had worked for 3 sheriff's that i know carried them the other 4 I have worked for so far I just don't know if they carried a back up or not. In the department I work for back up need to be .380 or bigger so if anyone carry a NAA they just don't mention it like I didn't tell anyone when I carried it. I'm banish to desk duty now days supervising 20 deputies and 9 clerks so I just don't see a need for any kind of back up now days. Had used it to kill a few critters when I been out in the bush seems to work fine and will do as a sd weapon but would not want it to be my only one on a regular basic but when working in my yard I keep it in my short pockect just in case. I think more people carry them but less will admit it. I also think the .22lr is not that much weaker then the .22 mag in these short weapons as MCgunner pointed out need a little more barrel to get the mag moving it was design as a rifle round if I remember right. but if you really want the mag get one with both cylinders so you can practice with a cheaper round you shoot these weapons more by feel then by using sights which requier a lot of shooting to get good with it.

While the ballistic advantage of the 22Mag over the 22LR is percieved by some as not large enough to make a difference, the REAL advantage of the Magnum is that it is just that much bigger and easier to hold/shoot, especially for follow-up shots.

That a good point VA27 of course they cost quite a bit more but if you using it for SD that not a big deal but for practice then the cost may come into play also with the really cheap .22 lr QA may be a problem now and then and have a bad round or two and the .22 mags seem to be made better, of course I have never had a problem with the high end .22lr. another good reason to buy a NAA .22 mag with the extra .22 lr cylinder.

I can hold my NAA .22LR 1 5/8" barrel just fine, get all my fingers around the grip, no problem. I ain't Barbie's boyfriend, Ken, either, I just bought a folding grip that allows me to do that. It's not law that I know of that you can't change the grip on the gun, unless I'm reading Texas statute wrong. :neener: If I get that (I probably will sooner or later cause I really want it) mini master with the mag/LR cylinders, I'll put a holster grip on it. I like the option. I'll keep the belt clip on it and can carry it IWB with the clip or clip it to the top of my T shirt when I'm fishing to keep it out of the water, AND, I can have my full size grip to hold the gun while shooting.
