Call Mossberg parts and service and tell them that you bought a new 500 and the pistol grip was not in the box. Have your serial number ready. They will send you one at no charge.

Mossberg will know by the serial number if your gun should of come with a pistol grip. If so they will send you one.

OK, I looked at the specs again on the Mossberg website, and I see what RP88 means--the Persuader is available with or without the pistol grip kit. I guess you got the "without." The grip kit for 12-gauge is listed on Mossberg's website as out of stock, no backorder. You see them on Gunbroker sometimes. You can get Hogue, Pachmeyer, etc. for big bucks ($50+) or look around for an OE Mossberg--they seem to run about $20 or $25.

I don't know if you'll find desert camo, though. I've only ever seen black.

Many of the guns Dicks sells are "Dicks Exclusives." These sell for less but often don't come with some of the accessories. Dicks sells a Mossberg 500 combo with a 28" fixed Mod choke barrel while the version in the catalogue has a screw-in choke but is more expensive. They also sell a Remington 700 SPS with a varmint barrel and green stock.

just to say it: I bought mine with the PG from a local gun shop for ten bucks cheaper than what Dick's advertised. But, mine was also the blued steel finish, and not a camo job on it. The ones you'll see on Mossberg's site are shown in blued steel finish, and may be the only ones coming with the pistol grip. You may want to drop them an e-mail about it.

Pistol grips are overrated on shotguns. If you don't agree with me and want to find out for yourself, spend a day firing about 200 rds of OO buck through a pistol gripped shotgun. I guarantee you'll have blisters inside the web of your strong hand and may even decide to quit before you get to the 200rd mark. I've found it's best to stick with the regular rifle style stocks with a thick recoil pad when it comes to shooting the 12ga shotgun. It's easier on your hand and makes a world of difference in controlling your aim.

I love finding out for myself! I believe you completely, but how else will I fully tactize my Mossberg without a pistol grip? It may suck, but I need the experience for myself so I never get suckered into buying something with only a pistol grip. Plus if I ever decide to make it a dedicated mini-slug gun then pistol grips forward and aft might be kind of fun.

Alright so I just got off the phone with the service center in Texas and they said to make a copy of the sticker off the stock and send it in with a little note and the name of the representative on it, and they will send me a PGO kit! Once again I really love the firearms and shooting industry because on the whole, most companies take excellent care of their customers. A good idea when when customers tend to be lifelong.
