Copied from an email distribution of the 2nd Amendments Patriots. HB 1176 and SB 054 are the same in purpose. Both have felt resistance in committee.

Rep. Troy Woodruff wrote me this evening to let me know that HB 1176 has now been amended He said, "the lifetime language was added with overwhelming support". One more step and it will head for the senate.

Here is where our good friend Sen. Nugent will take over. If you want to read the language you can go to http://www.in.gov/apps/lsa/session/...ssion=1&request=getBill&doctype=HB&docno=1176

I also received an interesting up-date from Charolette Lemiux, who works in Sen. Lutz's office, about things going on in the senate. I've been on her e-mail list for quite awhile.

This up-date is from Sen. Lutz(D) about different bills now working their way through the senate. In one of the paragraph listings it reads Senator Hume Initiatives Moves Forward and one of those initiatives is SB 54.

Here is how it appears:

SB 54 specifies that persons and agencies engaged in issuing handgun licenses should process applications in a timely fashion. The legislation would allow handgun license renewals to be done electronically and would not require fingerprints for renewals if the applicant's fingerprints are still on file from the initial licensing.

“This legislation will cut out a step that was redundant,” said Hume. “Hoosier gun owners shouldn’t have to jump through extra hoops to renew their license when in most cases the information is already available.”

Both pieces of legislation now move the full Senate for further review.

We appreciate the support from the Democrats on this measure too. I'm trying to get in touch with NRA liason Joel Partridge, I have a couple of questions to ask him. He did call back today and spoke with Margie.

Again, I ask all of you to call your particular legislators and ask that they support HB 1176. Getting a lifetime carry license is a major accomplishment. Also don't forget to thank Rep. Troy Woodruff and Sen. Johnny Nugent for their work on this.

Indiana Senate 800-382-9467 Indiana House 800-382-9842

Thanks,

Jim and Margie

For a FTF meet so far it's for 2\4\06 at the Eagle Creek range in a classroom 230 or 3 after a UT ccw class. Lunch will not be served. A few of us have decided to meet at Ponderosa on 38th st about 12. We have started a count of participants @ http://thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=171354&page=2
Show up if you can. Might have some open range time available at the range. IPD and MCSD use this range and classroom facility for training.
Located on the NE corner of W56th and I465 North of the High school rd light. N High School rd ends at N56th and there is a dog park there as well.
