I am thinking .223 with 22-250 a distinct posibility.

So as far as inexpensive options- I am considering the Savage, Stevens or Handi-rifle.

Mostly paper punching with the occasional predator hunt involved.

What are your thoghts?

My thought:
Get a CZ-527!

Actually, I have heard of issues with the Handi-Rifle holding zero, but I don't know that for a fact.

Savage is always good.

The only issues with the H&R's holding zero is when you change barrels. I use a torque screwdriver on the forearm screw to use the same torque each each time I put the barrel back on. Issue solved. I am looking at a 22-250 to add to a surprising growing assortment of H&Rs. A shooting buddy has an H&R Ultra in 223 that shoots very well.

Let's see...Handi: $239
Savage:$350
Stevens: $290
CZ:$500

I think $500 is a bit more than I want to spend. I'll see what they cost here. Thanks for the tip!

I'd go with the savege. They make great guns, plus you get follow up shots faster than the handi rifle would give you, and it probably would come with the accutrigger, and out of the box savage accuracy.
