I was thinking of maybe purchasing a carbine from CMP, and I was wondering if anyone new from what dates inland manufactured their M1s. Thanks in advance!

Edit: Also, whats the general thoughts on Inland carbine quality? Was inland pretty reputable or did their stuff not stand up very well? Thanks.

Any M-1 Carbine you buy now is more then likely gone through at least one govt rebuild program. That means that many parts will have been upgraded or replaced with parts by other manufacturers.

So, don't worry about which WWII manufacturer made the "best" M-1 Carbine. They are all mil surp guns now and all the manufacturers are about the same. The condition of the individual gun is more important then the manufacturer marked on the receiver.

Just so you know, Inland made the most M-1 Carbines of any of the manufacturers, so they probably knew what they were doing...

All the WWII manufacturers did a good job with M1 Carbines. As pointed out above, most carbines were rebuilt after the war, so parts are all mixed up. If you find an "all original" carbine from any manufacturer, it is much more likely to have been restored to that condition by some post-war collector than to be in original factory configuration.

I agree with Trebor on all points. I would point out that since Inland produced the most carbines, their values are slightly lower than some of the more obscure manufacturers like Rock Ola or IBM.
