Greetings THRers. I'm interested in learning about 3gun. Presently I know nothing about it at all other than it requires the trifecta of firearms. Anyone know any good tutorials? Know where any entry level 3 gun compititions are held in Alaska?

I'd also love suggestions on firearms to bring:
I assume .22s are out, so I'll skip my rimfires in discussion.

Currently I have 2 shotguns;
My 870 with an extended tube, holds 8 rounds of 2 3/4.
My saiga 12 with 2 MD20 drums, a 12 round stick mag, a 12 round drum, and 5 round drum.

I have two rifles of note:
My hunting rifle which is absurdly accurate, bolt action 30-06
My saiga .308 which is reasonably accurate, and I have 4x 25 round mags, and 2x 20 round mags for it.

Two handguns also:
My xd45c with 5 13 round magazines (two modified to 15 rounds, at the expense of some reliability)
My Witness 10mm with 2 10 round magazines and 2 15 round magazines.

What combination would work best?

Not sure how local matches are run in AK, but most 3 Gun matches will have competitors placed in separate divisions based on their equipment.

Given that you've got an 870 pump, a .308 semi-auto rifle, and a .45 handgun, you'll probably want to compete in Heavy Metal/He-Man Division.

Don't worry too much about your gear for the first match out. Run what you've got and concentrate on being safe and having fun.

+1

Bumped into a guy at the recent palmer gun show that I formerly shot IDPA with. Started the 3 gun wheels turning in my head. Need to find class rules to start aligning firearms with.

What's the one up in the valley where they shoot for a turkey? I'm having a hard time with the memory banks. Anyway I think there are some more formal than others. There's a pretty formal one in Kenai. Probably some at Birchwood too.
