Interesting experience with neighbor

Hey Bryon!

My favorite scene from the movie "Miss Congeniality". . .

Funny how the best and worst lines in that movie are right next to each other. Immediatly after that line is given, Bullock says "We assume anyone with a weapon is a suspect" :fire:

My lovely wife happened to be watching that the other day and those two lines were being said as I wandered through the house. . .

had the opposite happen

I had the opposite experience in that I found out a colleague who I figured would be pro-gun turned out to be one of the biggest liberal, whiney anti's I ever met.

I was one of several people at a function he was at and it turned out that he was into hunting, muzzleloading, etc......but when the conversation turned to concealed carry, semi-autos, and gun ownership in general I had to walk away before my head exploded. He turned out to be the "I know what's best and I can do it but don't trust others to be as capable" type of arrogant weeny that so often plagues our political system. This guy is a college administrator, so he's a similar species as a politician.

I made a tactful and polite attempt at stating some facts and having an intelligent discussion when he began his little rant, but he's the type that can't be reasoned with.

Haven't been around him since then and our already standoffish relationship got even more uncomfortable.

Of all people my own brother! He is not a bad guy but he is about as liberal as you get on most issues and I just assumed he was also an anti. He knows that I am into firearms but never expressed any interest in them. He was visiting me about a year ago and suddenly asked to see some of my guns. He then proceded to tell me he has started going to gun shows and actually bought a revolver at one (paid too much IMHO but he's a newbie so that can be forgiven). He also said he has no objection to any law abiding citizen owning a firearm! You could have knocked me over with a feather. I guess theres still hope for this old world.

I managed a resturant in Studio City California. After about a year there I gave one of the very liberal waiters who was having car trouble a lift home. When he put his back pack in my back seat he saw the copy of Guns and Ammo I had bought on the way to work.

It started as a right to bear arms conversation that turned into take him to the range invitation. After one range trip he wanted me to help him pick out his first handgun, and safty tips.He owned four guns in as many months and had most of our regular customer going to the range every month or two_One of the customers who we converted was 70 and had never shot a gun before.CW
