The "suspect" did NOT merely request money, and I cleaned up the "suspects" usage of words when he DEMANDED money from my friend (Along the lines of, "Give me your money, mother f-er!")

Still, we must remember that there are significant differences in the language used by various subcultures and we should be more understanding of those linguistic differences and their subtleties.

There's no question that "Give me your money" is a request for financial assistance, but we must recognize that the term "mother f-er!" could imply the speaker's approval of the other person's strong filial devotion to his mother.
