I just got an Uncle Mike's Kydex paddle holster. The first page of the instructions has this interesting tidbit in bold type:
Non-law enforcement personnel should never attempt to holster or carry a sidearm in an Uncle Mike's Kydex Holster in a ready-to-fire condition.

WTH?

I assume they mean loaded? I don't think that I would stick a gun, with the safety off and a round in the chamber in a holster, regardless of my occupation (I'm a civilian). Regardless, that is a wonderful disclaimer.:neener:

Why Non-law enforcement personnel. Not a good idea for anyone to carry that way.:banghead:

it makes sense to me.

Law enforcement folk will have their lawyer paid for by the government but if you try that on your own and have a ND you're on your own. :p

Like LEO's buy Uncle Mike's...do they???

I've got one Uncle Mike's, I sawed the paddle part off and screwed the holster part into the bottom of my desk. Got a "Glock Nine" in it right now, rearin' to go. I'm so irresponsible. :barf:

I thought about doing that with a holster for my .38. I'm always at my computer so...

You know...that is a really good idea for an alternative way to have a firearm handy. That would take almost no modification to work in a vehicle for CCW.

Kudos to you, sir.

Glock has a similar warning in the manual about carrying a pistol with a loaded chamber unless one is LE or military.

The Ruger P95DC manual states that I should never load the pistol until I'm ready to shoot it and should unload it immediately after shooting it.

The Kel-Tec P32 manual states that one should never load a firearm except immediately before shooting it.

Whether they believe in private carry or not, that line was written and mandated by their liability lawyers.

Don't give it more thought or credit than it deserves.

It works really well. I took a military surplus shoulder holster, cut off all
the straps, and screwed it into the cargo rack behind the passenger
seat of my pickup. I can reach it from my driving position without
any body-shifting, and it will hold just about any pistol you want to put
in it, long barrels being the exception.

The holster was originally built for a 1911, but it accepts my "wide-body"
CZ RAMI easily.

the glib explanation, of course, is that one should always leave shooting yourself in the leg to a trained professional.

We use the Fobus paddle rig for our Glock 19s and 17s, even after the video of the gun grab, where a guy snapped the holster right off the paddle. If I knew how to post a video, I'd do it. I will never wear a plastic paddle rig....
