I have seen many people suggest optics planet as a trusted source to buy scopes. is this the general consensus? i am looking for best prices and customer service.

While it's not a dedicated to rifle optics company, I greatly enjoy BHphotovideo.com's prices. They carry a good range of rifle optics along with their camera equipment. They're essentially my goto when it comes to optics for my cameras, my rifle, or my video equipment. I love their customer service, even if their hours are wacky at times (they're satmar hasidic jews so they close for all their holidays/the sabbath, including their website). BUT, if you have specific views about not buying from people who've been accused of discrimination, they've been charged and found guilty of it at least once.
Nonetheless, i got a 200 dollar optic from them for 130.

I have bought a lot of camera gear from B&H and have never had a problem with them. They get the best reviews from the camera forums I go to due to great customer service and prices.

I have tried to order from optics planet twice. Both times I ordered my items were on back order. I don't know if they don't keep there site up to date or if they just were behind on there online updates, but it's really annoying to order stuff that a vender doesn't have. That said, when I did call, there custoer service was good and they didn't hassel me about canceling my order.

Alex Roy at EuroOptic is the man. MidSouth Shooters Supply midsouthshooters.com is a great place to buy anything. They ship quickly and have excellent customer service. If you are considering Leupold you should consider Meopta. Call Alex! He will guide you through the process.

Optics planit operates about 30 mins from my house. They don't keep a lot of stock on hand, they order it when they recieve your order. It's hit or miss with them. If you need it right away, they might not be your best option. I'm still waiting on a belt from them I ordered a couple of weeks ago. I could have gotten it from Galco directly in half the time, but their price was better and it's kinda a local business, so the free shipping offset the sales tax and make me feel a little good ordering from them.

I have always had very good luck with Midway. Never bought a scope from them though.

The best service from any gun related company...

...was from Scott at Liberty Optics. He is a great guy that refuses to sell junk, and has great prices. I try to buy from him first, but he only carries a smallish selection of optics (mostly mid-high end optics). If you buy from him, make sure and order by phone and ask for the THR discount (thread with details is here).

If I can't get it from Scott at LO (because he doesn't carry what I am looking for), I typically buy from OpticsPlanet and have had good service from them as well. MidwayUSA is another good retailer that sells optics. Purchased my last scope from CDNN, and that transaction went smoothly as well.

:)

Liberty Optics does carry Leupold, but to my knowledge they only carry Mk. 4 series. I would still give him a call and see what he has/can get.

:)

CDNN is good, we buy a lot of firearms and optics from them, with only one problem over the last 20 or so years! lol

And don't forget Natchez Shooters Supply....been using them for ages also, great company.

Kahles Optic has yet again changed importers...yup, Gamo Airguns will be the new Kahles Optic Importer! That's right, the spanish airgun manufacturer!

Also, only the new KX series will be offered in the US for now, with plans to offer the newly designed CL series later...so I was told.

Horrible news, I don't know about the KX, but the CL is one of the sharpest and brightest optics that I have ever seen...wish they would keep them coming in.

:)

this is awesome. i'll check every site mentioned here. thanks

i'm in the dark re: the "kx" and "cl" scopes. what company makes them? i'm pretty stuck on wanting usa made. not sure if they fit that criteria

thanks again all

Cannot go wrong with Liberty Optics. Scott will not BS you, he will tell you if a scope he carries is a good fit for you or send you elsewhere. How many people in business would actually recommend an optic from another vendor? That is why he is respected over at SH.

alex @ eurooptic.com

+1. You have to call or email for the best price. Their listed prices arent' any different than anyone elses but you can usually buy them for much less and he's a good guy.

Kahles makes them, and does a darn good job, however they are made in Austria.

Scott will not BS you...
...and he always answers the phone, even when he is mowing the lawn. Who else would do that?

:)
