What with the politicians in Washington intent on fighting to gain political advantage for the next election, I figured that there needs to be an awakening that communicates enough is enough. Murtha's attempt to stop the war with a war of a thousand cuts is wrong. I think it is time to send a message to Washington to stop the infighting.
I would like to create a formal petition to be sent to Congress that calls for a cease fire between the Dem's and Republicans regarding finishing the war as President Bush has outlined. It basically would tell Washington that we are tired of the bickering and to shut up for a period of 6 months to give the Surge a chance to work.
By using the petition format, it puts a not so subtle hint that tactics like defunding the surge or creating Viet Nam style restrictions on how the war is to be fought is not good politics.
What do you think. Would you sign it?
How would I get something like this formally started?

I'm pissed and not going to sit here and take it anymore.

Off topic. Anyway the Dems are weak, they should get some brass balls and call for a complete ceasefire and withdrawl from Iraq. And hold Bush's ass to the fire. Instead they pussy foot around the issue. At least Murtha has some balls, and calls it as he sees it. Plus a surge in troops will do nothing but create more problems. Just face the music the war is lost and we need to get out before more troops get killed. What a waste of life this illegal war has become. Iraq had nothing to do with the "war on terrorism" and everything to do with Bush creating wealth for his power brokers.

I say the whole representatives sytem and electoral college is outdated and uneccasary and we do away with them all.

It's already been replaced by a gerrymandering special interest congress that
is rigged to guarantee more than 95% of all incumbents get reelected if they choose to run. Big money decides who gets air time and whoever gets air time gets the votes.

America is notorious for not living up to their promises in the Middle East and this is no different. This is exactly why America is so hated by those folks. If we leave, we exit a country that will quickly break down into civil war and likely won't want to sell us their resources as readily. Namely, the oil, the reason all things Republican claimed we were not there in the first place. Unless another Saddam Hussein dictator type steps up.

Recent news events make it obvious that the Bush administration has an agenda in the Middle East they are not sharing. They are intent on stepping it up, not toning it down. We have stated Afghanistan is not going well and needs more support, Iraq is not going well and we're poking the Iranians again trying to pick a fight. The Bush family war profiteering knows no bounds and our children will be paying for it. And we are letting it happen because none of our elected officials are doing squat about it.

There is an agenda taking place and nothing that has been done thus far has done anything to curb it. The executive branch has way overstepped their boundaries and the Dems don't have the cojones to get it back on track, or are complicit in the whole thing and letting it happen anyway.

Funny how we never invade anywhere without resources, and we never invade anywhere with a McDonalds. Iran needs to open a McDonalds.:D

Anyone who says this was an illegal war I tend not to listen to. That is just a LIE. Congress voted for the use of military force period. Please sometimes I think I am living in the twilight zone of the 1960's again. I can not stand for such foolishness again. The Democrats are not weak they are playing a dangerous political game. If they wanted to stop their war they would defund it. Anything else is political posturing and Murtha's plan is probably UNCONSTITUTIONAL> I personally think he has dementia. Thats my 2 cents.
