Is a barrel and mag all I need to convert G30 to G29?

Do I just swap out the barrel and get anew mag and ammo? Or is there more to it? Does the firing pin need to be adjusted?

Per Glock, the barrels of the G30 and G29 are not interchangeable. Even Lone Wolf doesn't market for that conversion.

Barrel diameters are different, and there'd be SLOP when the 10mm barrel was used in the .45 slide.

With this type of conversion, after-market barrel makers also adjust the conversion barrel so that head space is correct, and the extractor works without problems.

I've seen Glock caliber changes done with other calibers USING STOCK GLOCK BARRELS -- as with a 9mm barrel used in a .40 slide -- and at least some of them can work with surprisingly little degradation in accuracy. But, I'd be hesitant to try moving from .45 to 10mm. I haven't seen or heard of that done.

In terms of stopping power, I wonder whether the standard (commercial) 10mm loads would be all that superior to the .45. Load both to their performance peak and you might find the 10 mm a better round in a full-size gun, but with a short (sub-compact) barrel, I wonder if you can really get the expected performance.

I've had a KKM conversion barrel in a G30 for years. Never had an issue. Just the barrel and mag change.

Read the posts by "DesertScout". He has pictures, and he had some video at one time, but it looks like the videos have been deleted, showing that you can take a non conversion G20 10mm barrel and put in a G21, and it works just fine.

I initially did this as well, and never had any issues just using a stock G20 barrel in a G21 frame. I did use G20 mags. I eventually found a 2nd gen G20, and I had to jump all over that, so I don't do the "conversion" anymore.

So to answer your question, I don't see any reason why you couldn't do the same with a G30/G29.

the switch from 9 to 357 sig is a barrel and mag, no problem. Siych between 357 sig and 40 is barrel only.
the conversion your talking about is somrthing you can do but is not the norm. Have your gunsmith nearby on this one!

By the way, the 357 sug round isoutstanding! A touch over 1 inch drop at 100 yards. Sucks that ammo is so high.

No.

It is not possible to convert a 9mm Glock to any other caliber without replacing the complete upper and ejector.

Thanks for the help guys, KKM makes a drop in barrel to convert my g30 to 10mm $165 and no further stun smithing, ejector problems may occurs, but unlikely.

This. It'll feed and fire, but extraction and ejection problems are very likely with a .45 Slide.

This is false. I have ran my G30 with a KKM Precision 45-10mm conversion barrel and G29 magazines for 6 years. You do not need a new slide. I've never had a problem with extraction or ejection using the G30 slide and conversion barrel for 10mm. The case sizes do not require a different slide.

Have you personally used a conversion barrel in the G30 with G30 slide? Doesn't sound like you have. I have for 6 years. I know what I'm talking about from personal experience. You don't seem to be doing so.

His statement isn't exactly FALSE, as it appears to assume the use of STOCK barrels rather than CONVERSION barrels. The original poster asked about just swapping barrels and mags, and didn't address conversion barrels.

Conversion barrels have mods to compensate for critical differences (like barrel diameters, head space and extractor function.

That said, I've seen STOCK barrels used in Glocks, like a 9mm barrel used in a .40 slide, and they shot surprisingly well with little degradation in accuracy. That isn't what you'd expect. I don't claim this would be true of a 45>10mm swap.
