Is a report correct that Colt is Re-issuing the O1918 WW1 repro?

Dave, if you think about it, everything is a limited edition. Nothing manufactured is made in infinite number, there's always a last one. Might be the billionth or trillionth, but there's not an infinite number made.

^ This guy gets it.

The most prudent reading of any manufacturer claim of a "limited edition" is that "production will be limited to the number we think we can sell."
Another thing that makes me scratch my head.... "Designer _______".
I have heard people refer to some guns as designer that were also produced as limited editions when trying to sell something to someone at a gun show.
When you think about it, at some point somebody sat down at a drawing board and took pencil in hand knocking out the design of the whatever. Someone, at some point, designed a lockwasher. Does that make it a designer lockwasher? What's so special, then, about a designer _______"
Everything is designer designed. (Is that too repetitively redundant?)
Everything is limited edition.
Could you just give me a real reason why I should spend an extra wad of cash for your super cool handgun, rifle, gun bag?

"Designer _______".

Ironically, in the space where the term was first used - clothing - it really represents a step down from the highest levels, which would be bespoke (actual custom-made clothing where the customer is specifying many aspects of the item).

I've always wanted one and put my name on the list. I'll replace every MIM part though, the list price is $999. Another small tiff with my wife I expect. I also want one of the new PPKs from Walther USA.

I am confused about what, if anything, Colt manufactures now. I know they did not make the reproduction General Officers 32 automatics, for instance. And I am not sure about the new Colt Cobra revolvers.

And are there more then one Colt companies? Like one that makes rifles for the government, and one that puts its name on pistols?

Jeez man, this thread took a wrong turn, real fast :( Especially that last one ...

My simple question was: in response to that one article I linked in the OP, does anyone have any additional information that would verify the claim that Colt is issuing another run of the O1918 model ...
I seen the ww1 repop a few years back if it the same one. Comes wrapped in brown paper in an old style box

Only thing I don't like about the cimarrons and RIAs is the cutout/shaping around the trigger is wrong.

I had to go back and look at the photos but you're right; the shape around the trigger guard is definitely not right. Would be a deal breaker for me.

I agree the trigger guard isn’t shaped correctly on the Cimarron, but it only bothers me when I see it next to the real deal, like NIGHTLORD40K’s Colt.

If I ever need to refinish the frame, I may try reshaping that area.

I've seen those O1918 Black Armies selling for $999. I'm wondering how it's different from the WWI 1911 repops of about 10-15 years ago?

I just bought the SDS Imports Turkish 1911A1 made by Tisas. Pretty close clone of the WWII gun. Grabagun.com has them for $360.
