Is CHL probably cause to search a vehicle?

Since when would having a license for something be grounds for a stop or search?
A Terry frisk is allowed whenever the officer feels concern for his safety. Knowing you have a gun is an articulable basis for reasonable suspicion that you might be a danger to him.

The question is moot, of course, if you're required by law to notify police when you're carrying.

i'm sure this has been asked before but is telling an officer no when they ask if they can search the vehicle grounds for probable cause?

Also, fwiw, I've had one interaction with an officer when I was carrying. I handed him my DL & CCW and he looked them both over, smiled & handed them back. That's how it should be.

What would the officer have probable cause for...? That you're obeying the law?

Probable cause has to be based on BREAKING the law.

Definitely not. But it might annoy him enough to look really hard for grounds to search. That's why playing word games is a bad idea. Anything you say is liable to give him the probable cause (or reasonable suspicion) that he wants.

I have been stopped three times...

during the last 5 years for not wearing a helmet while riding my motorcycle. I handed the officer my DL and CHL. He checked them out and gave them back to me. One asked where the gun was. chris3
