If Obama wins, it is inevitable that we will see another run on guns, ammo, and reloading supplies. Right now, assault weapons, as defined by the fed gov, are at an all time low price wise, and you can find them everywhere. If Obama is re-elected many people will figure that he will run rampant over gun rights in his 2nd term, since he has nothing to lose. So, is now the time to be buying?

There is never a bad time to be prepared. That being said I doubt we will see the same behavior as we did right before the first time he was sworn in.

Everyone who was/is truly worried already owns one.

First, the term "assault weapon" is not technically correct.

Second, yes, buy them up. So many great prices out there. Win or lose, it's always good to have 'em.

I was using the term "assault weapon" as it has been defined in previous federal law. I know a lot of gun people dont like it, but it is a term in common usage now, and we all know what it means.

It won't happen simply because people won't allow it. This is America not Europe. The U.N's "treaty" will not see the light of day here in the U.S. Both republican AND Democrats have both said they would not vote for the issue. A recent poll stated that 49% of Americans own guns now. Assault rifle or other wise firearms are a long and intrenched part of our history and there are too many of us that will not sit idly by while the government is confiscating our ak's, ar15s and such.

However, that doesn't mean you can't take advantage of some of the deals out there.

It is, however, legally correct.

Yes, but not any more than you want and can afford comfortably. The panic buyers who will jump at any presidential election where a Democrat is having a strong showing are a part of the market, and you might want to plan your purchases around them.

Alternatively, now is a bad time to sell. Hold on until the panic buying gets started.

Yep, and many a German Jew, never thought the Nazis would take control of Germany.

I don't think there will be a run on guns simply because folks don't like the "cry wolf" experience and all those that are likely to be customers already find themselves holding expensive guns from before.

No, I don't think that the upcoming election is a reason to purchase firearms.

Yes, I do think that we're looking at the lowest prices on "black guns" that we're likely to see.

We're looking at low EBR (I personally say that it stands for Exciting Beautiful Rifle) prices. If you feel like it, make a run for all the AR's, SKS's, AK's, and Nagants (prices will go up in the end) you can.

It's more likely that we will see legalizing SBR's and even some easing of F/A weapons than another AWB.

OMG!

Better stock up now before the hoarders get to them !!!

OMG!

I do plan on getting two or three lowers by May 30th, should have any tax return back by then.

Will have a few Moist Nuggets by then, C&R should be here by the end of December.

It is, however, legally correct.

Only if you're in CA, NY, MA, or one of a few other states. If you are in one of those states it's a moot point since you won't be legally buying one prior to Obama's re-election. If you're in one of the more than 40 other states there's no such thing, in law or the dictionary, or even common sense.

BTW, according to the VPC a Savage 110 is an "assault weapon" (http://www.vpc.org/studies/militarization.pdf page 18).

Godwin's Law in only 7 posts. That was quick.

Buy if you can afford to. If not at least get ammo. If for no other reason than you can. All tin foil aside, buy a rifle and lots of ammo and take a carbine class with someone like Pat Rogers.

I would say buy one if you really want one, mainly because prices are relatively low right now and there's a wide selection of guns to choose from. But I wouldn't do it as a sort of a knee-jerk reaction to what I perceive the outcome of the next presidential election might be.

I dont own assault rifles, I own stop assault rifles.

I wasnt talking about assault rifles, I was talking about assault weapons as defined by prior federal law.

Nevertheless, then 2nd Amendment was designed to prevent violent groups like that from taking over our country, right?

AR's can be used to prevent that, they arent just for shooting cans at the range.

Cost wise, it is crazy not to have bought an SKS nine years ago when they were only $99 a piece. Now that they are selling upward $299+ . Given the economy, I guess that ol rusty shot gun selling for $75 at some yard sale would seem like a steal.... Get whatever one can afford...

No offense, but you are part of the problem. Repeating maketeting terms developed by anti gun rights groups is unacceptable as a gun owner.
Do you want to get a jump on blowing lots of cash on guns that are not needed, but purchased out of fear and sold at a loss like folks did during the last election. Obama has passed more pro-gun legislation that either of the previous two republicans. You can carry in state parks, and amtrak. Nevermind reality, the sky is falling buy em' up.

. Obama has passed more pro-gun legislation that either of the previous two republicans.....

Are you saying that Obama, who had previously been virulently anti-gun, has seen the error of his 100% anti-gun voting ways?

Yes, I'm sure when he said "people don't need guns," he was just putting up a smoke screen for the anti-gun crowd, just as he convincingly did with his anti-gun voting record...

When he privately told Sarah Brady to be patient, that they were "working behind the scenes," (think "Fast and Furious") was just a ploy to get her to shut up while he instead pursued a pro-gun agenda??

Dang....
