I just got my M&P 45 Midsize back from a local gunsmith, who installed some Triji nightsights for me. I had my second range session today and was ready to go with 300 rounds of target ammo. First range session was around 3 weeks ago and put 200 through it.
First mag the second round of Speer factory ammo jams. Round is stuck in chamber, and striker is not firing. Remove mag, and still cant rack the slide to eject the round, and it wont fire either. Finally range guy sees me struggling, and helps eject the round by pushing the slide against the booth shelf with considerable force, and it finally ejects.
I guess if it was a real situation, I'd be dead. Not good.
So i keep at it, with different ammo, no snags so far, except:
I notice that when the last round fires, the slide locks open, and if I insert the next magazine with any force at all, the slide releases and chambers a round.
I show the range guy, and he comments on how easy it is to release the slide with a loaded magazine. It doesnt happen with an empty mag, but with a full one.
Do I have issues with this weapon? This is my first semi auto, so dont really know for sure.
Any advice is welcome, thanks.
