Hello all, .02 worth from an Old SIG owner/shooter/carrier/armorer. I have owned a variety of SIGs since the mid '80s, P210,P226,P228,P229,P220,P230,X-5, etc. It has been my experience that the all-German guns seem to be fitted more precisely barrel-to-slide-to-frame than later models. I didn't have any all-Germans that displayed rather loose slide to frame fit, etc. until the German/American versions. I had no German guns that needed file work on the barrel to fit, and then not very well, etc. Mine have all been reliable from the first, except for the .380 P230 that needed about 200 rounds through it before finally functioning reliably. My current X-5 appears to be all German ( SIG Customer Service confirms it is ) and fits and functions beautifully, as in 100%. In battery, there is no play in the barrel/slide/frame at all that I can detect. My X-5 fits like my previous, regular production, all-German SIGs did. Now I've owned some German/American type SIGs that fit well, but it's been a crap shoot whether you get a solidly put together one, or one that's kinda sorta/must be okay because it's a SIG and I paid a lot for it,etc. Most of the German/American versions I've handled fit more like a standard production Colt, a bit loose. I don't think I've owned a 100% American SIG, and know I've never had a German P210, so can't comment on them. I much prefer the way the the X-5, and the previous all-German guns, are fitted over most of the German/American guns I've handled...ymmv
ps, I do have a German/American P229R, that I examined before purchase and bought, because that particular example seems to be put together almost as well as my previous German guns. I had another, that was not put together near so well, and was disposed of...
