Is "limp wristing" real or urban legend?

While shooting on a very empty stomach and little sleep, I noticed that the S&W 41s my college gun club has are very prone to limpwristing. I was shooting like crap and decided to play around with it a bit, now I can almost make the gun malf at will, just by changing the muscle tension in my wrist.
