Is the General Social Attitude Toward Guns Changing?

I don't think the general population has a choice anymore. There are many MANY unreported incidents where people go nuts with guns, and then more where people use guns to save lives. I think they figured it out, that someone can and will come up to them and start blasting for the sake of nothing.
People are finally getting it, "it can happen to me."
I also think society in the US is tired of being BSed around. They were gullible the first time, and this time it isn't a joke. The administration will not try a gun ban until the 2nd term if it is re-elected. Why is this? Because if they try it now it will be a 1 term presidency period. They know that. Gotta be smart right?
Yea, I think people are figuring out that police aren't always around, and people are not as good as they are.

With millions of new guns sold, and ammo as scarce as hen's teeth, there are a lot of first-time gun owners out there. Many have joined, and the rest should be encouraged to join the NRA. For the first time in 20 years, middle America is THINKING about guns. Some will pull to the left, but a surprising number are pulling to the right. When they do, they will become more curious, and search out web sites like this. Welcome them!
The more the current administration is exposed, (Pelossi, Notre Dame, DHS report on Right Wing Extremism, etc) the more people are waking up.
We're now in a position where the Dem's have pretty much backed off (for now) on gun control. In a different vein, the majority of Americans now oppose abortion. America is becoming disenchanted with the Democratic party, and their leaders. I say hurrah!

not to turn this into a political debate, but the reason a Democrat was voted in was because the people were "disenchanted" by the republican party. I don't think its right to blame Bush only. Point is, the American people are saying something to Congress. "You have limited power" and "Just because we voted you in doesn't mean you can ____ with our guns"

Women are jumping on the bandwagon too because they know that all those self defense classes they took in the 80's don't mean squat compared to the ability of a gun to protect them.

+1

Blow a whistle and yell "NO!!!"
vs
Point a gun and yell "NO!!!"

Hmmm

This issue came up with a female friend of mine recently. She is otherwise pretty conservative, but I was amazed to hear what she thought about guns and the need for "more strict gun control".

A few simple questions very quickly revealed the fact that she had clearly NOT thought the issue through at all. In the end all she could say was something to the effect of "I just wish that guns were never invented".
