Several months ago I went out and bought an XD-45 service bi-tone and I absolutely love it, it is a flawless pistol.

I have been reading on several different gun boards over the past few months about problems that XD owners have had specifically with the .40 sw model. Some people claim that the XD was originally designed for the 9mm and was fitted later one for the .40 sw , so there are still problems lingering for this model?

Problems included typical jams and failure to feed.

Any LEO carry this gun?

I had an XD-40 and sold it because I didn't like it. But while I had it, it ran just fine. Never had any type of feed issue or any other technical hangups. It was a good gun.

The guy I sold it to shoots it all the time. He has no issues with it either.

Had one that I sold; never had a problem in about 500-750 rds. Wish I kept it, got the tactical, it was too big for practical purposes.

I owned an XD40 for several years (sold it about a year ago) and never experienced a single problem with it.

Huh. I've been on this forum for years and never heard of anything like it. Strange.

My XD-40 has been perfect, 100% flawless since day one, and that was almost three years ago.

Check out some glock talk threads and even the XD forum. I am asking here because I wanted to know first hand accounts.

I shot several thousand rounds through my XD40SC and it never missed a lick. The XD was my first, center fire semi-auto. In my quest to find the "perfect pistol" I sold it and bought a M&P 9mm which was very accurate and 100% but I couldn't hit plates fast with it so sold it and bought a CZ Compact. I think the CZ is my "9mm keeper". (We have no ranges where I can test fire different handguns so I'm in "buy & trade/sell mode" to find a pistol that suits me.

I also have a couple of Springfield 1911's but wanted a 9mm to practice and shoot plates with so my lead supply would last a bit longer:)

I liked the ergos on the M&P more than the XD and felt the M&P had a better trigger but both guns were trouble free through thousands of rounds.

Smart move. Complaining for its own sake doesn't really go on here, comparatively speaking, as much as it does elsewhere. I'd take what you hear here over any other forum all day everyday. The fact-content is at a higher level. ;)

Some problems with some of my handloads. It's a problem with the handloads that I have yet to solve. No problems with anything else.

I have a XD-40 service with about 1000 rounds through it-nary a jam or any other problem. Do think the new XDM might be better though.

I have never, ever had a problem with my XD .40,its one of my CCW carry guns and 'glad of it'.I guess, like most,Ive had a lot of good fortune with the XD series.

2 XD Tactical .45's
2 XD Compact .45's
XD Compact .40
XD Subcompact .40
XD compact 357 Sig
XD compact 9mm

and the list goes on and on....

Is there much difference between the .45 acp Service vs. .40 Service?

Can someone give me a little more than the usual push vs. snap?

I think there are better guns out there, but I wouldn't trade my XD40 for one of them. About 1500 rounds and 0 fail-to-feeds. Only fail-to-fires have been due to faulty primers (2). So, in answer to your question, no, I don't think so.

Not in my experience.

I have problems with handloads with my hand cast bullets. I'm troubleshooting that.

No problems whatsoever with factory loads, or handloads with commercially made bullets.

I myself just tried out an XD40 at the range from a nice gentleman.. It was incredible. The feel in my hand, the trigger pull, sights were replaced by him all incredible... It was the nicest 40 I felt and shot in some time.

I WANT ONE.

my xd service model has over 6000rds through it, and there has never been a faliure to feed, chamber, eject extract etc.

my xd sc has a third of that through it and it is 100% as well.

I had an XD 40 service model last year. Before it hit 1,000 rounds, the trigger spring broke. Cost me $25 for local gunsmith to fix it. Other then that it worked good. I didn't care for the caliber and thought it felt a bit top-heavy so I sold it to a work aquaintance who still has it, but rarely shoots it.

xd 40 problems?

only shot one and have held a few... so don't know about the 40. but my 45 has about 600 rounds through it and only been cleaned once at about 500 rounds and not a problem one. although all i have spoken to about the 40 have nothing but good to say about them.

I haven't heard of any functional problems with the XD 40, but they missed the boat on capacity. So when I wanted a .40 to go with my XD 9 and XD 45, I got a S&W M&P.

A few features on the M&P beat the XD (mostly the grip), and vice-versa (the trigger) but either is a great choice.

Improved capacity seems to be the driving factor behind the new XDm, which is in .40 only (so far.)

If I were buying one right now, I would go XDm, and I can guarantee that advice is worth every penny you paid for it. ;)
