Hi all,
1- a 45 acp that has the same type of trigger pull as a 1911. I do not like the long trigger pull like a Glock has.

2- a larger capacity. 7+1 and 8+1 is ok, but want more.

3- Has at least a 5" barrel.

4- has no issue with lead bullets.

With them 4 aspects, what can I expect to find?

I do some local 3 gun matches and cast my own lead.
I have seen a Walther and Springfield with some aspects that meet needs. Just never tried one. I have no want for a Glock. Its like your pulling and pulling and still pulling before you fire. I have no interest in 9mm. Just something else I would have to load for. I load for enough already.

Between cowboy shooting with the wife, range time with the grandkids, and now some 3 gun for myself- what can I get that may meet my needs?

Thanks for your time.

Bob

There are plenty of double-stack 1911s available. The best value is probably Rock Island Armory.

Yeah, I'm not sure what the question is here...you're describing a 1911. Want more rounds? Get 10 round mags.

Thanks for the replies all. The wife gave the go ahead to get a new one for my 3 gun fun.
Gonna look in to whats been suggested.
Will look into 1911 double stack. Honestly didn't know there was such a thing.

CZ97b. 10 rd mags. DA/SA trigger. SA is Pretty nice after a break-in period of a few hundred rounds. It's the softest shooting 45 I have. There are customization options that make it very 1911-like, but I think it's just fine as is. I shoot plated RN in mine, but I bet it would handle cast RN or LSWC's just fine. You can get it with a decocker, but I only shoot it in SA so I don't need it.

My Glocks and 1911's are the 2 most similar triggers of any guns I own, at least from the factory. Both are very crisp at about 5-6 lbs. A 1911 CAN be made better, but out of the box they are very similar. The problem most people have with Glock triggers is that they use them wrong.

Sti would be on the high end. In our local and state comps, I'm beating guys that use Sti and wilson combats with a para 14-45. It's not the gun, it's how you use the gun.

I have a number of Glocks. I liked the guns but not the triggers. I replaced the triggers with a Phantom trigger from rockyourglock.com. The link is below. The Glock Store also has a replacement trigger called the Pyramid trigger. It turned my Glocks from safe queens to guns I carry and shoot often. If the trigger is the only issue you have with Glocks, it may be worth looking at these replacements.

A double stack 1911 feels great in my XL hands. I wish I had gotten one sooner.

Para lost all support and good vibes from me when their customer service said they knew a problem was their fault but it was my problem now since the pistol left the factory. I made it safe to shoot (hammer follow from factory) and dumped it.

Sounds like you needed to talk to someone else. I've never had that issue. However, I don't blame you for the bad taste in your mouth. Same reason I avoid some companies.

Thanks for the replies all.

Even if I got a glock and changed the trigger , the fact you can't use lead is another issue. I cast my own and my current 1911 has never seen a factory round and the only jacketed were some Berry's plated I bought once for a good deal.
Gonna look up some of the ones you have said would work and check them out.

Thanks again. Bob

Try a Springfield XD with a PRP trigger. You'll have a 14 rd. pistol with a short and light trigger pull. Closest thing I've found without being a 1911.

My Glocks and 1911's are the 2 most similar triggers of any guns I own, at least from the factory.

I own both too. However, still one of the most laughable posts I've read this evening..

This is true. Like calling a pinto the Corvette of Ford. They are vastly different triggers. Ghost trigger in a glock is one BIG step in that direction though.

Well, although the barrel length is "only" 4.71" my SIG P320 is as accurate as my Government Model 1911 with a national match barrel bushing. The ammo capacity is 10 rounds for the full-size P320.

I doubt you are ever going to get a striker-fired pistol trigger to be as good as a high quality 1911, but if you got a stock P320 and sent it to Grayguns for their competition action package a think you would get as close as possible.

another problem is the 5" barrel, 5" is considered unusually long in modern pistols as 4-4.5 seem to be "full size" now

options are either a double-stack 1911, like the para P14, or even the inexpensive ones by rock island.. also the CZ97B with an SAO trigger conversion that someone else mentioned, and barrel length aside, the walther PPQ has a very nice trigger, is available or will soon be in 45acp and its the only polymer id spend money on
