May be a dumb question, but for my Lee Turret Press:

I want to buy a 9mm Luger specific case holder for my Lee Press. The LEE case holder #19 fits at least six calibers (9mm, 40 cal Etc. Etc.) and is loose with 9mm Luger. I also tried a Lyman and it's the same loose fit.
I've even contemplated drilling a small hole and mounting a ball bearing and spring in it to get light retention.

If a 9mm case is oversized and sticks in the sizing die just a little too much, the case sometimes will move. This can screw up seating the primer smoothly.

I have replaced the case holder spring clip retainer, and it was looser than my old one. That isn't the problem.

Anyway, is there a case holder made just for 9mm Luger available?

I feel yer pain.:banghead:

I have to nudge the case for it to go into the sizing/'capping die. AFAIK this is standard for the 9mm shell holder.:fire:

I tried buying a Lyman, no joy. Wouldn't fit the press. I'm told there is a fix but I haven't found it.:(

RCBS and Redding 9x19 shell holders are unique for one case head. They are also listed for 30 Luger and 30 Mauser but they are the same case head as 9x19.

Lee #6 is more for 9x19 unlike #19 that is a "one size fits all" shell holder.

I noticed the same thing and finally solved it with a Hornady shell holder. I didn't notice if their shell holder is specific to the 9mm, all I do know it it fits snug and has no slop at all.

Fishslayer, Lyman offers one that does fit the LEE press, but it was "loose" also. The tall Lyman holder is from an older turret press--I have one.

I will be getting another case holder--SOON.
I'll try the #6 or the 9mm RCBS.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the replies.

twofifty, it's catch22. If the case isn't aligned just right with the LEE sizing/decap die, it won't "feed" unless you nudge it with your finger. If it's not lined up close for primer seating, it can damage or mis-seat primers.

I've loaded way over 20K 9mm with the LEE turret press, but THIS ISSUE is starting to irritate me.:banghead: :D

I solved my priming frustration by hand priming. :neener:

Wait, the hand primer also uses the #19 shell holder ... :uhoh:

Dang, I am confused now ...

Thank you ArchAngelCD.
I'm going to try it, but if you know, will that fit a lee turret press mount?

Lee makes two shell holders for 9mm.
#6 or #19.

The #19 is the "universal fits none" size.
The #6 is more better as it is about .006 smaller and actually intended for the 9mm.

The reason they have two is, there have been 9mm cases made all over the world for about 100 years.
There is a lot of variation in rim size.

Sometimes, you get hold of some cases that won't fit in a #6 Lee or #16 RCBS shell holder so you have to go to the Lee #19.

Here is a shell holder cross-referance chart:

Thanks rc, neat chart.

My WIN, FC (& ATK's family of brass), R&P, and PPU's should all fit that #6.
