Is There A Kool-Aid In Revolver Flavor?

Wasn't inferring anything negative by the "Kool-Aid" reference. I guess I just use it to infer a passion for something that's somewhat indescribable, or hard for others to understand. In my case, it's having gone through a bunch of different autoloaders (of which I still have one for HD) but just ending up with a beautiful revolver in my hand. They feel better to me, there's the mechanical movements of cocking the piece or a smooooth DA pull that I've never felt in any self-loader. Until you feel the four clicks of a USFA Premium, it may be hard to understand...

Cheers,
Tom

Yup, drank that same (revolver) Kool-Aid many years ago.
Got eight of 'em.

There's a reason they're still being mass produced today.
I'd much rather have 6 fer sure than 8-17 spray & pray any day.

some people may be more accurate with a semi, but not me.
I can wheel gun far, far better.

I tend to think of the expression "Drinking the Kool-Aid" as indicating unreasonable enthusiasm for a product which outstrips its actual qualities. Generally this is accompanied by outrageous claims of superiority (or adequacy) for a plethora of tasks, which cause less affected onlookers to reevaluate the credibility of the speaker.

Using that definition, I'd say the Taurus Judge would have to be the only revolver that seems to draw this kind of "errore sufficientia."

That sums up very well what I was going to post on both points.

The Kool-Aid I've seen most often slurped up (LOL) is the oft repeated and more oft believed claim that revolvers don't malfunction (every time you pull the trigger they fire) and are more reliable than semiautomatics.

I've owned Colt 1911A1 variants that never malfunctioned. Glocks are known to fired hundreds of thousands of rounds with only an occasional replacement of a spring or two. At the same time I've had many revolvers that will not go through a practical pistol match (IDPA, ICORE, etc.) without jamming up, particularly when shot with cast bullet reloads...unless they are cleaned between stages.

YMMV,
Dave

Yes but typically automatics must be shot with one power level or they WILL malfunction. In revolvers, you can readily switch from mousefart to monster masher loads without doing anything but adjusting the sights.

When I think of the notion of "kool-aid drinkers" what pops out to me most is the rabid response to someone not being a fan of their flavour.

I've found this comes *mainly* in three flavors.

1911
S&W and
Glock

If you want to see someone get slammed HARD on a board, watch for the threads where someone says they don't like one of these three.

A new auto might catch my eye every once in a while but i always seem to gravitate back towards a wheel gun..The ergonomics and point of recoil are totally different with a revolver and much more natural in my opinion..still waiting to try out my new 3" magnum judge i got last week

Like John Wayne said on his cd "America Why I Love Her", "Mis raices estan aqui". Translation: My roots are buried here. Its always good to get back to your roots.

Down here in Miami, FLA it's the taurus judge. Every dude who pulled up to our local gun club with one just got it that day from their local gun shop, has a box of .45 Colt & .410 shells, shoots it a few times and is done. I'm a member at this club and I'm here 2-3 days out of the week. Funny thing about it is, it's not EVER the same person coming back to shoot their judge. ALWAYS a new owner. Hmmmm....
