We just had that thread about the guy that didn't carry for a day and I got to thinking, Is there anyone here who doesn't carry ? Do you simply use/collect guns for hunting / range duty?

To set some parameters here is my specific question:

Given situation: You are legally able to own a gun. You live in a state ( or country) that allows CC (or open carry). You meet said state's requirements. and choose not to carry.

Also semi curious as to your rationale

I dont carry.. but of course I live in CA. Guns are mostly a hobby/novelty for me. Most of the times they just sit in the safe. I do keep one gun in my dresser for HD though.. just in case.

EDIT: Nevermind.. didnt read the original post entirely..

I own plenty of guns, recently got a CCL, and I do not carry. I just don't need to. I don't look for trouble, and although I know trouble might come looking for me, I have yet to have a problem. I know I'll probably get flamed for saying it, but i have faith in God to watch over me and keep me from harm. I live in a small town with a population of about 16k, and although there are some bad things that go on, none around where I live ( this is why I like to live in the country.)

However, when traveling out of town I keep my .357 in the car, and have various guns locked and loaded in my house at all times. God also helps those who help themselves.

I have several guns, at the moment they are Home defense / range guns. I am working on getting into a CHL class but havent had both the time and money at the same time lately.

Even when I do get the CHL I cant carry all the time because I work at a University and in Texas it is a felony to carry on school grounds. Notsaying I wouldnt like to (have to walk through a pretty bad neighborhood to get to work) but I cant. I still enjoy the guns and target shooting when I have the time and the guns I own are good HD guns for me and the wife.

Mr John Blaze, you have right. I don´t get "carry at home, church......golf course".

Oh, ok. One thing I agree with you on is carrying in church. It shows a lack of faith, in my opinion.

Again, it is only my opinion. To each his own.

I rarely carry, it depends on where I am going. Most jobsites I go to don't allow weapons. When I travel I take along a handgun and usually try to travel a route through states that reciprocate with VA CCW

How is it "Lack of Faith" to carry in church but ok to carry at home or on the road? Is God only Sovereign in the church building ?

I live in Colorado Springs, we recently got a very good object lesson about what God can do W/ one person who's willing.

BTW Jean Assam absolutely believes God put her in that church for that day.

BTW K.I.W is a troll that likes to talk smack about American gun laws plz don't feed him

To Restate

This question is directed at people who ARE OF AGE and LIVE IN LOCATIONS WHERE CARRY (OPEN OR OTHERWISE) IS LEGAL, and choose not to

I do carry, but I don't carry everyday due to various reasons.
I know, I know, the odds are that when I need it I won't have it.
I need to scrape up the cash for a pocket pet.

I own several handguns, a rifle, and a shotgun. I'm old enough to own handguns, but not old enough to get a CHP in my state. So, if I want to carry, I must OC. So, I don't carry all the time, just when I feel like it (I almost always carry in my vehicle, and also when going to gatherings with other OCers.) I'm going to get my certification for my CHP before the end of the year (now that VA law starting July 1st clearly states that certification never 'expires') so that I'll be ready to get my CHP the day I turn 21.

we cannot carry in Switzerland since 1999... You must proove that someone is really theathening you, or that you are very wealthy, in order to be able to pass the CCW exam...

INSANE...

No, in the middle of a war zone, contractors are not allowed. Pray you do not to get into a gun fight when you are convoying, all you can do is smoke a cigarette and hope you don't get blown away.

Interesting question Treo. I am curious about possible answers as well....too bad 90% of them didn't actually read your question.

EDIT: For me, the only time I make the choice not to carry is when I'm going to a friend/relatives house that isn't comfortable with it. Even then, I carry, but leave it in the lockbox in my car.

it must be said, though, that many people still carry, without CCW, just ignoring the new 1999 law..

I dont do it, since the price if caught, would be too high...

ps: sorry for replying off topic.

Cant CCW due to being 3 years to young in florida but I can car carry and own all the guns.

I can't carry, No CCW in the state of Maryland.

I'd love to know what it is like to be able to carry a firearm for self defence.

I do not carry. I have been thinking about getting my CCW, but I still would not carry on a regular basis. I suspect that I will be informed of the error of my thinking, but I am not concerned about crime in the area in which I live. If I were more concerned about crime, I would carry.

The only other reason that I would carry on a regular basis would be because I believe deeply in citizent's right to carry, I think the more people that do carry, the stronger the defense of that right. However my wife is very uncomfortable with me carrying on a regular basis (She is not an anti, by the way.).

If I were more concerned about crime, she and I would have a serious (and intense, I might add) conversataion and I would begin to carry.
