the only thing that I think was excessive was a second magazine pouch.
Also, the cellphone could go in the pocket and the knife should have a pocket clip. So, is it too much to carry? No.... but it's probably not necessary for everything to have a pouch like that. That's got to be uncomfortable to sit down with.
More reasonable would be the gun and an ammo pouch with a refill..... the mace readily accessible somehow, but not necessary open carried, cellphone in pocket, folder knife clipped to pocket. Or, forget about the mace entirely. I used to carry mace, but then I remembered that I also have a Y chromosome.

If normal means ordinary or commonplace, then no, that's not normal. It's actually very utilitarian, to him. Might he give the impression of being a wannabe Batman? Sure. Is it silly? Are you old enough to remember how a lot a guys dressed in the 70's? Maybe he'll start a fashion trend.

Well, some people pride themselves on being prepared.
I'm sure there's a few guys out there that wouldn't mind CCW'ing a Calico M950. Nothing spells security like a hundred round drum of 9mm.
If people want to lug all that weight around, good for them. Realistically though, there isn't much out there that you can't off with a .38 or .44 snubby. And if you do fall into a situation where you need more than five or six bullets, your probably an actor in a hollywood movie.

I think CountGlock nailed it.. If concealed it's probably well prepaired.. But all out in the open is definitely mall ninja 101..

In Gander Mtn yesterday, saw a fellow carry concealed in a brown leather man "purse".
My wife kind of chuckled about it, but I told her it was cool, mostly because I can't tell what is cool from what isn't. I just pray that people don't find out how unsure I am about it.
This was about 12" long by 10" high, brown leather with brown leather strap. Actually, it looked okay in a casual way, but it definitely looked like a man purse.
Would I use one? No way. I'd go for black nylon bag or something. No Mall Ninja would go without!
