Misprint

Yes, this must be a misprint, even the gold placed desert eagle dosen't cost anywhere near this much.

Am I missing something here? Why should we assume that it is misprint? If it was a sting operation, and the cop was using our money rather than his own, why would he bargain down to a fair price?:neener:

Further, I presume he really wanted to make the buy, so he could make the arrest. How many of us could resist selling at that price?

Could be a case of entrapment if he offered an outrageous sum of money.
thats still not entrapment.....

and my guess is, that he sold the gun for $350.00....but its common for some people to replace a decimal point with a comma.....so my guess is they wrote it $350,00.....and someone thought the meant $350,000 and fixed it.

First it's a REALLY REALLY GOOD revolver, and the police department has WAY too much money on its hands to splash around. :uhoh:

First off.

The police have money to bargain with, they arent "really" spending it. It will be recovered, so the price tag means nothing to them. Dont they have a budget that isnt really spent but used in operations like this?

This guy in a moron, obviously. Maybe he did tell some one he wanted to sell it for that much. So the under covers say ok, lets set it up.

After all, most criminal are morons. right?

They give him money, take the gun, arrest him and take the money back. no loss criminal off the street.

My question is, would the higher price tag of the firearm add to a more serious conviction. If so bingo good for them. Thats the only thing I can think of, or they just didnt bother with saying they "only had so much" because he was probably really that dumb. Or it possibly could have just been a typo and im thinking too hard this late at night.

Chevyman, I thought it was interesting as it might not be a typo and maybe that was the asking price, not what the department offered. The gun was stolen, maybe it was stolen from a collector?

Probably a typo though.
