That's a great project. My dad has a 760 in 243 that I've always liked except for the cartridge. If it ever finds its way into my safe I'll probably do the same.
A couple years ago I got it in my head that I wanted a 7600 in 35 Remington, but evidently they are now worth their weight in primers.
I got a Remington 141 in 35 remington and made a carbine out of it instead. I am a fan of the intermediate size 35 calibers. The don't hit quite as hard as the big bores like 444 and 45/70, but they are a heck of a lot flatter shooting, so a really good compromise for woods hunting with the possibility of 200+ yard shots. I have a Magnum Research pistol and a Handi Rifle in 35 Remington as well. Those two both get +P load loaded to about 50,000 psi, but the 141 just gets standard pressure cast bullet loads.
I also have a 358 Yeti AR15 which is basically a shortened 358 winchester made to fit in an AR mag. That pushes a 180 gr speer at 2500 fps
